I would use these great tips these ladies have posted for at least 2-3 months then head to the doctor. My mother only has one ovary and never knew it till menopause hit. Long story short, she had 3 kids off of one ovary. Her doctor said the ovaries typically alternate releasing the egg each month so she was lucky 3 times and hit the right month! lol Good luck.

I agree with Autumn. That's what we did. Counted 10 days from the beginning of my period. Then we had "relations" every other day for like a week and every time I propped my butt up with a pillow or two for like 15-30 min. after. I got pregnant two months after going off the pill and now have a beautiful 6 1/2 month old daughter.

In most cases you're most likely to get pregnant at the end of your cycle and up to 7 - 14 days after. This is because the mature egg is release during your cycle. There are many factors however that can make your ovulation period vary. my advice is to get a ovulation monitor. it tells you when you are ovulating. Then go for it like rabbits and afterward lay upside down for as long as possible. Use the head board to prop your butt up. or at least put a pillow under you. That will help the little guys out.

Have you tried an ovulation calendar and thermometer? I used these for #2 and it finally happened. #3 was a surprise and conception was when I was relaxed and didn't think about it!

To add to what one of the ladies said about proping your butt up on the head board (I swear that is how I got pregnant with my daughter too!!) I also read when I was trying to get pregnant with my son that laying flat on your back afterwards helps too. Something about the natural tilt of the pelvic area....so I don't know what got me with my son, laying on my back or my butt on the headboard with feet dangling in the air.....but I have a beautiful 8 month old!!

Good luck and have fun trying:)

I am 9 weeks along with my second we used an ovulation calander. WebMD has a great one. It is very easy to use, you just let it know when you last period began and how long your cycle is and it tells you when to have sex, how often and what to do to get "ready". It even has an option that tells you the best times to conceive for a boy and girl (we'll see if that works in a few weeks!) The average cycle is 28 days and your most fertile time is about 2 weeks before your period starts. According to the calander there only about 4 days out of the month that count the rest are just recreational! I wasn't sure exactly how long my cycle was so I just put 28 days and turned out to be right but it may take a month or so to figure it out. We used the calander for about 3 months in a very structured way then we backed off for a month. My husband said he didn't like "scheduled" sex but I think he just got a little nervous, whatever it was he sure was a prude for about a month! He agreed to try again if we could just go on the "whatever happens...happens" philosophy. I still secretly used the calender just didn't let him know. The next month we were pregnant. I think it was a combo of keeping track and just relaxing and not stressing as much. Good luck!

As others have said, you ovulate during the middle of your cycle. Read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" for tons of great info.

I would suggest trying to do your basal body temp, you just use a regular thermometer and take your temp every morning and chart it down. The first day of bleeding whether it be spotting or whatever is considered Day 1. Depending on your cycle length you should ovulate between day 14 and day 18. You should try to aim for that time of your cycle to get pregnant! There is an excellent site on basal body temp called www.fertilityfriend.com hope this helps a little!

Hi D.,

I am now almost 7 months pregnant with our first child (a boy). I didn't know much about how to go about getting pregnant quickly, so I went to google.com and just typed in things such as "ovulation calculator" and went on to pregnancy websites that had articles about tricks to getting pregnant. I started pre-natal vitamins about 2 months before we started trying. I went off birth control pills and got pregnant the first time I ovulated after going off. We were shocked at how well the advice worked. I did look up my ovulation calculator and hung it up in our kitchen. We followed that and had sex everyday during the period that I was suppose to be the most fertile. Also, after sex I did place a couple of pillows under my hips and laid still for about 20 to 30 mins. This seemed to work very quickly for us. Just make sure you are getting enough rest, vitamins, and exercise to keep your body in good shape. Your health is one of the most important factors. Blessings and the best of luck!!!

Taking Charge of Your Fertility is definately a must! Seriously! She really helps you to understand what is going on in your body and how all the things you thought you were doing right, are probably why you aren't getting pregnant and what you can do and so on. Great, great book! Since every woman's cycle is different, read this book so you can know about YOUR cycle and work on getting pregnant.
And too much sex can sometimes be a problem. Every other day when you are ovulating is what is recommended, I believe. Read the book, seriously, so much you will learn from it! And you can also use it for birth control after the baby!

My husband and I tried to get pregnant by using ovulation predictors you can buy at the store, counting the days in my cycle and trying to baby dance in the middle part, and also with basal body temps. NONE of that worked for us. After we were both checked out and found out we were both fine, my doctor told me to throw all that stuff in the trash and stop using it. He told us to have sex every other day and that we were sure to hit the right days with in the first couple of months. He was right. We got pregnant in the first month of this.

It took some of the fun out of sex because we had to "schedule" it, but if you are determined to get pregnant this works.

Good Luck!!!

I agree with a few other women on the board, ovulation calendar is the best way. :) With my 3rd, I tried a few months without, and than started charting. I think personally it takes a good 3 months to get your chart accurate. Anyway, by the 3rd month I followed the ovulation week and got pregnant. My friend also was doing a hit and miss game and so I charted hers out, told her what week to do the deed ;) and sure enough got her pregnant right off! :) www.fertilityfriend.com is one of my favorites. And if you go to ivillage.com and check out their "Are you Pregnant?" board, there is a lot of women on there that has great advice and tips on what works and doesn't work. :) GOOD LUCK!! ;) Just keep calm and stress free!
