My husband says iam crazy its nothing but it not loose skin its just looks like a newborns bottom in the center of my stomach i do have defined sides and upper abs.Im very tone everywhere else but I by no means think iam fat but iam a very fit person so to me i dont like it.I do weight lift and do planks.Im just gonna try px90 i seen a personal trainer this morning and she said i can loose it with no surgery bc its not flab or loose skin and she lost 200 pounds and said px90 would be great for me to loose it.I do not settle to be average thats just not me so i will achieve this..And i never call myself fat nor do i have anything close to a low self esteem i love myself i just want the best me.

I agree with Beth - reverse crunches & flutter kicks.

I am 5' and usually weight around 105-110, but I also have the same belly problem! Just wish I could stick with my own advice.... haha easier said than done!

Good luck!

You are what is called "skinny fat" -actually a lot of models are this way. Not as unhealthy as regular but not good either. Do strength training-this will really help. Also-try 'core' centered exercises like pilates rather than sit ups. Most experts agree that situps are NOT the thing to do anymore. You will see a huge difference.

For goodness sakes, I'm 5'3 too and weigh much more than that. Granted, I need to lose weight but you are down right thin! As we age our bodies change. Your perception on how you should look after having a baby is perhaps a bit screwed up!

Hi, I know how you feel. I weighed 197 after I gave birth to my son and now 3 years later, I'm 130. I still have the flab or just stretched out skin though. Exercise helps a little but not that much. Throw in the fact that I'm 44 and it doesn't look promising other than plastic surgery. Tummy tuck, breast lift, maybe a little boob job while I'm at it. Weighing 110 isn't going to get you a lot of sympathy around here, but congratulations on your weight loss. Don't diet anymore just seek advise from a professional. You probably look great! Good luck.

If it's the upper abs and it's not just loose skin, it could be the protrusion of your separated abdominal muscles. Sometimes our tummy muscles are SO stretched during pregnancy that they actually separate down the middle and kinda bulge out. The only way to correct it is through surgery.

It's the baby belly, otherwise you are not fat, nor anything close to it.

You need to target those ab muscles, and learn to dress to flatter your shape. Bicycle crunches are better to tone those side muscles than regular sit-ups.

Also, a lot of that flab is loose skin, not much you can do with that.

You are not over weight by any means but sound like a candidate for a tummy tuck. Pregnancy can definitely do a number on some of our body parts that is not reversible without a surgical procedure.

You are no where near fat! I'm 5'4 and 145, and before having my 2 kids I was only 110. 120 is my goal right now (although I have other issues with my thyroid and other hormone problems that I'm getting help for), so it will take a lot more work for me to meet that goal, but I am very determined. It sounds to me like you just have extra skin from being stretched out. There is nothing you can do about that. It's the beauty mark that your baby left you when you were pregnant. Your body changes after having kids and you can't expect to have your teenage body again. It would be a dream of mine to be 110 again, but I would also be extremly happy to just be 120.

I hope you dont go around stressing about this and saying that you are fat in front of your daughter. I have pretty low self esteem and I do everything in my power to keep these thoughts in my head because that is very unhealthy for a child to here. I am 5'5 and weight 110 and that is awesome to me. I actually breastfed my DD for 13 months and the weight came off like melted butter. I got down to 103 at my lowest and I was mortified. I looked ill I was so skinny. I just now weight 110 and that is after 1 month of not breastfeeding. My goal is to be 120. I too have the 'mummy tummy' and it is just skin. There really is not too much that you can do about it except accept it for what it is and just know why you have it. Embrase it, because I dont think at 110 pounds its going anywhere.

I'm not an expert, however I have the same thing; I noticed it particularly after our second child. I think that as several others said, it's simply skin which stretched out, not fat. You are well below the chart in terms of weight- height ratio. It is hard to adjust our idea of what we're 'supposed' to look like, especially when the media images are so unrealistic and we now think we look differently than we did. In the long run, however, it will make for more happiness to accept that our bodies are going to change with time and experience. I heard it said that stretch marks are the badge of membership in the world's biggest club--Mothers! Maybe that loose skin in the stomach is the same badge. Anyway, you sound like you're having a great time with life, doing all the dance! Keep it up.

Try pilates. Honestly, nothing targets that area better. It might not fix it entirely, but it will help ALOT. Sit ups will really only help the upper abs.

try reverse crunches.
reverse crunches you raise your butt instead of your shoulders.
also doing flutter kicks and leg lifts may help
is it a belly or just loose skin, it might be just loose skin.

My best guess is that what you're calling "fat or flab" is really just loose sking from your pregnancy. Not sure what can be done about that beyond plastic surgery. I do have to say that I'm also 5'3" and after having two babies in 18 months and nonstop nursing until just a few months ago (youngest is 14 months), I'm thrilled to be finally shedding some pounds. I am just below 150 and look better than I have in a very long time, and I feel better too. My tip for you...stop worrying about the "flab" and be happy :)

I don't call this fat, I call it "skinny flabby"! My answer for you is weight lifting! Maybe see if there is a Power Up class at your local YMCA. I'm the same as you....skinny but can easily get major belly flab hanging over my jeans etc. (We weigh about the same). I started taking this Power Up class 2ce a week and running twice a week (maybe 2-3 miles, so not much). You sound like your diet is good. The other thing I did is my hubby and I changed our diet and I try very hard not to eat any white processed grains (of course I fail at this, but I definitely eat less) or sugar. I make a big batch of quinoa salads or lentils for lunch for the week. We try to eat mostly veggies and meat for dinner with only brown rice or quinoa or a brown rice/barley/wild rice mix or a bean dish. That sort of thing. We try not to eat bread or pasta as much anymore. I try to avoid potatoes and corn too. This has been working for me. Good luck!

I'm 5 ft 2 1/2 inches (you know us shorties have to throw in the extra 1/2 inch) and weigh 107 after 3 kids... that flab isn't going away on me! Everything else on me is pretty toned, and I have abs under the flab... but my abs are split from my pregnancies, so it's hard. You can push your finger into the gap between my abs, kiiiinda gross. So's my stomach. It's all stretch-marky and loose. The only thing that will fix this is a tummy tuck and surgery to sew my abs back together. I've come to terms with it. I still rock bikinis. I have a teeny bit that sticks out of the top of my jeans on my stomach, but I've learned to throw a super tight tank top on under whatever other clothes I'm wearing, it smoothes it down without bulking me up. I call it my skinny fat ;) One day when I have the money, I am absolutely, 100% getting the surgery... but until then, I don't even give it a second thought. It's not worth getting upset over. My mom tells me on a daily basis to gain weight... I tell her to make me a sandwich and schedule my tuck ;) Love yourself as you are! You wouldn't want your children feeling bad about their bodies, lead by example :) If you're feeling sorry for yourself, go to VA Beach... they let it alllllll hang out ;)

You need to do overall strength training. You are probably what is described as 'skinny fat': you don't weigh a whole lot but you're soft in places where you don't want to be.

Doing abs everyday is a mistake. All muscles need rest and proper nutrition for growth and repair. Do your abs every other day. Make sure you are also doing strength training exercises that include all parts of the body: chest, back, biceps, triceps, shoulders, quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, etc. You may not see the number on the scale move a whole lot but you will notice it in how your body appears, which is really what matters.

Finally, you can't 'spot train' away fat in a certain area, so avoid products, supplements, and exercise gimmicks that claim you can. If that were the case everyone on this board would have a washboard stomach, right? :)
