Hi Moms,

This one is for my boss.. he came in to work today telling me he was up all night with his son. He said his son ate ice cream a few hours prior to going to sleep. He woke up a few hours later crying and fussing all night. (He is almost 2.) Normally he is a great sleeper, sleeping soudly through the night.

The catch? This happened a few months ago. Also a night he ate ice cream.

He is not allergic to dairy, as he drink milk and eats cheese and all that sort of stuff daily.

Could it just be a coincidence or could this be something more serious? The boss has already stated he will not serve his son ice cream anymore.

Thanks for any input.

What can I do next?

My husband doesn't have much problem with Cheese or milk but he has quite an issue with ice cream. I don't quite know the reason, but it's the ice cream that is the offender. I would just avoid it - or maybe get an ice cream maker and make it at home so he can control what goes into it. There could be some ingredient in store bought ice crema that bothers him.

My son can have ice cream and dairy, but not milk. Go figure.

Tell your boss to try Soy Delicious Ice Cream, its dairy and lactose free and available in the natural food section of Stop and Shop or at Health Food Stores.

I am thinking it was a touch of cramping from the sugars in the icecream. I would just not give him icecream for 3-4 hours before bed.

It may be one of the other ingredients in the icecream that is upseting his stomach. Your boss is right.. just avoid the ice cream.

i dont know, but i know that when my 5 year old was younger, he could eat milk, cheese, ice cream, etc, but no yogurt, it made him so sick. it lasted a couple of years and then he outgrew it. so, maybe just avoid it for a while, try again in a few months. also, they probably thought of this, but what flavor was it? maybe an allergy to the chocolate, berries, etc?
