ID Bracelets for Kids

I'm considering buying ID bracelets for my three children (4 1/2 b/g twins and 2 y/o boy). I'm wondering if any of you have your children wear them and if so, where did you get them? The reason I'm considering it is for fear if one of them runs off and gets lost, the bracelet will have contact information on it... our home and cell phone numbers. What other information, if any, should I include? Or, are ID bracelets just a bad idea for kids? Thanks for any input you can offer.

I have the running child too, so I bought my daughter one for when she went to the circus. I don't remember the website, but just google it. It was only $10 including shipping and you could pick a graphic for the top part. I put ONLY the cell phone #s of her dad and I's phones. Home #s can be traced to the house address, which was not so ok with me. I put her name and the cell #s and that's it.

ID bracelets can be taken off.

This is what I have used, and its good.

This is where I bought it from.

This is also good:

I used the locator "bear."
It works REAL well.

I bought BOTH these items, for when my Daughter went on a trip with my Hubby. And it is highly rated, and well made, and works very well. It is well worth it. I got my daughter the safety Tat that is "waterproof." It lasts on the child for awhile.

Be careful of what contact info. you put on the labels. Not their name... not your home number... otherwise predators and criminals will KNOW where to find you/rob you/and know your child's name... .thereby enticing them.

You ONLY put, your cell number on it... etc.
Read the website for the Safety Tats

All the best,
Susan

N-style (website) has some really cute bands for kids. I buy them for my son as he has a medical condition and the medical ID bracelets are expensive and ugly--and don't really fit a child. I put a stitch in the the material so it would not slide off but the band still fits him today. You can put whatever you want on metal slide. I plan to get one for my toddler for times we hit the zoo or other outings.

I purchased one for my son just before he had turned 3 and was about ready to start preschool. The reason why I purchased was because he was essentially non-verbal on the autism spectrum (thankfully that is no longer the case) and I lived in fear that he would waunder off and not be able to answer anyone's questions. I found one on e-bay for a reasonable price -- it was actually a medic alert bracelet -- and the only information that I had engraved was his first name on the front of the ID tag, and "Non-Verbal Autism" along with both of our cell phone number on the back. It sounded like a great idea but I wasn't able to convince him to keep it on so it ended up being a waste of money for us. Maybe you will have better luck with your sons . . .
