I had minor surgery this last week. Like not a big deal went home two hours later on meds. Since then I have hit my husband's truck with my car. left my wallet in a store, left my entire purse in a restaurant, drve 35 minutes to an important meeting and forgot the documents necessary. Lef tmy phone - well - everywhere.

This is all very unlke me. Random forgetfullness, sure. But, this has even my kids talking about it..... Has any one experienced this or do I need to go back to doctor???

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am not on any pain meds. I am not in any pain really (OK maybe a little) I am still bleeding which was also supposed to only last a day or two and has lasted ten days. Doc sent me for tests to see if I had a secondary infection or got something nosocomial. Just what I need we're leaving on vacay in ten days and I cannot afford to be so absent minded!

If you're still on pain meds... That's normal. Don't drive. Don't make major decisions, etc.

If you're still in pain NOT on meds, also normal. Pain is distracting. Our reflexes slow. Our memory gets spotty.

If you're not on meds, and in no pain, see your doc.

This does not sound normal to me. I had a lot of health problem earlier in the year and was put under with anesthesa a few times, and I never had this type of reaction. I was groggy the next day but then fine. But everyone is different. I would call the dr just to be sure. Good luck and tie your wallet to your belt loop lol.

As your previous answer suggests, yes, this and other aftereffects can happen. Some people are more sensitive to the drugs and can have long-lasting and severe problems. An aging friend of my mothers actually became psychotic for a few weeks after anesthesia, and her doctors believed it was the drugs.

Do talk to your doctor about this.

I have no idea, but I would def mention it to you doc. A close fame friend had a severe reaction (memory, etc.) after his surgery. His was much more severe than what you're describing g, but please follow up!

After my sinus surgery, the doctor told me you can have effects from anesthesia for a month. I know I was tired for a long time, groggy at times, and a lot like you describe. After a couple weeks, though, I was back to normal.
