Per Oneanddone's response: they are tacky on anyone except married people, in my books. For married people, it's nice that a relationship is still so passionate as to produce hickeys.
So, after a night of passionate (and maybe a little rougher) love making I awake to find myself sporting a hickey! LOL. I am 35, married, with three kids.
Please tell me I am not the only mother out there who has had to cover up her neck.
I am NOT going to cover it up. I don't think it's indecent, as someone said. I also think it's pretty tacky to see on a 17 year old who is probably too young to be having sex in the first place. At least it's with a man I love, who loves me enough to have a family with....and thinks I am hot stuff.
I was not mad, and knew it was happening and did not care one bit. I love my neck getting some love!! LOL
As for the "low rent" comment....does that mean that poor folks are the ones having hickey makin' sex? I'm cool with that.
Thanks mamas!

Ugh! I would be BEYOND ticked off!
Do a good job with the cover-up--they just look so......."low rent"!
I mean, on a 17 year old, I can look the other way....but an adult? Yuk!
You know, I never understood the appeal. I don't really find anything pleasurable about someone sucking or biting my neck until it leaves marks. With that said, you can bet you aren't alone. I'm sure there are tons of mamas out there with hickey's right now.
I am also 35 (just turned, argh!) and have 3 kids and I awoke about 2 weeks ago with a great big hickey too!
My sister laughed her a** off at me about it too! But hey, what can I say...The Man and I still have a LOT of fun in the bedroom! Ha!
So no, you are not alone! Don't be ashamed or embarrassed...wear that hickey with pride and smile a lil' to yourself every time you think about it!
~Been together for 15+ years and I think it's cool that we still enjoy each other as much as we do!
I'd wear it proudly. :) It's a mark from your lover, the father of your children. I'd be happy for you, proof you have a loving, fun marriage.
Until recently i had not had any since probably high school, my ex just never got that caught up in the moment i guess. I am a 27 year old single mother of 2. Now my boyfriend does give them to me "unintentionally" pretty regularly. I woke up a few weeks ago with multiple on my breasts and one on my neck. Didnt really think anything of it or even notice the one on my neck till MY MOTHER pointed it out to me while shopping the next day.
Put spoons in the freezer. Once they get fairly frozen, rub them (aggressively) on the spot. Work from center out to diffuse the blood. It may take a few tries but it does noticeably reduce the hickey.
Hint:
Deodorant first.
Then coverup
Then powder
Then deodorant
Then coverup
Then powder
Answer your Q?
haha, that is just nasty.
I think that's about the age I was when I had my last one.
It's just weird to know that everyone is PICTURING you having sex last night.
I do it to my husband now and then, he gets mad. I think it's hilarious.
Lol hubby gave me a hickey on my BOOB a week ago. I'm breastfeeding so yay fun. But at least it was easily covered. Congrats on the passionate night! :)
I went to work one day and a co-worker says: " What the F@*^ is that on your neck?" I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and what do I see? A HIckey!!! I was so pissed. Pissed and embarrassed. I was 25 when that happened, think I would die if it happened now lol. So no you are not the only one. Oh and yes I was a mother at the time.
I've had several!
My Guy likes to give them to me. He says he's "marking his territory!" LOL!
Since then, I've given him many. But I do ask him to mark BELOW the neck. I'm a Soldier, and they look pretty bad in uniform.
ETA: I don't agree that it's "low rent" at all. Nor is it "indecent." I'm 32 years old and in a committed relationship. If I were 17, it would be low rent and indecent, because that makes a 17 year old look like a slut. There's nothing slutty about my situation.
ha ha, yeah it happens....sometimes. I usually don't even know I have one until I look in the mirror, oops. Usually a little foundation helps.
Nope you are not alone! I have had a couple of hickeys since we were married and I am a teacher!
My neck is a HOT spot for me. Add in that I bruise easily and my husband can just look at my neck or any other hot spot for me and I will get a hickey. So you aren't alone. I gave up trying to keep them covered after about amonth of being married to my husband...that was 17 yrs ago.
OMG, so funny!
Did your kids notice????
What did you tell them????
Well at least you and Hubby had a fun night!
Try using Arnica Gel on it.
Arnica is good for bruises. Might work on a Hickey.
You can get it at health food stores.
Eh. Hickeys aren't so bad! lol.
I remember burning my neck once with a curling iron, and EVERYONE kept giving me grief for having a hickey on my neck. (I get red hickeys, not the dark bruised-looking ones)
At least you have the decency to cover it up.
