JFF: Is Your Husband/Partner/Wife, Older or Younger or Same Age as You?

My husband is 7 years older.

It was a little strange when I first met him and I was only 19 and he was 26, divorced w/2 kids...but now that I am 35 and he is 42, it's not that big of a deal!

~My sister told me: 'Think about it, when you were 12, he was 19 w/1 kid...that's just gross'! But I did think about it and when I was 12 I was writing in my diary how I wanted to grow up and marry a military guy who was tall, dark, handsome and that could make me laugh! He is/was all those things (in the Army, stationed in Germany when I was writing all that) I just had to wait awhile to find him!! Age is just a number!

We're the same age, only I'm 3 mo older.

But, this made me think of something funny. My little brothers new girlfriend is just 21, her mother had her young, at 18, so that makes her mom 39. I'm 37. I think it's crazy to think that I'm the same age as my baby brother's girlfriends mother!

I think I blundered there. Excepting him EVERY man I ever dated was older (significantly). I was used to MEN who understood themselves and what they wanted out of life. Their charecters were 'set' so to speak.

I think it's less about being older than me, though, and more that second part: their actual age / experience. They knew who they were and what they wanted. That's rare in young people in general, regardless of gender... And I got married fairly young (early 20s).

Not to say 'it' would have worked out if I'd married an older man, as I was still learning about myself, as well. Just something I've been considering!

(ROFL... Anyone catch my past tense? Oy. I have a comeuppance coming for that one. Granted I'm still learning about myself... Just FAR less fluidly than I was early 20s)

My husband is 14 years older than I. When you add in the fact that we have a 9 year old and a 2 year old together, along with our older kids from previous marriages, that's where it gets kind of crazy.

I am just like you. Always dated the older guys....and then I snitched one out of the cradle. He is 5 years younger than me. We met when I was 25 and he was 20 going on 35.

I love the fact that people assume that I'm much younger (I'm 38) because he is so young (and looks it) and we have two very young daughters (2 and 4). I can totally sell it if I keep the natural highlights colored over. :)

Mine is 4.5 yrs older. I like being able to tease him now, but as we get older and enter our geriatric years, I will be a bit sad, just knowing the average lifespan of women being longer than that of men. Makes me sad to think that chances are, I'll have to say "Goodbye" to him.

I'm 3 years younger, but people think I'm a good 10 years younger then I am. That makes my husband feel a little weird, since I'm only 30.

Hubs is just one month younger than me. And of course with that one month edge on him I always claim so much more wisdom than he, ha!
I love being the same exact age. We have so many "shared" memories of pop culture events, local happenings and such from our childhoods, even though we didn't meet til we were in our 20's. That's the one thing I always feel like people miss out on when they have a more than 5 year age gap. I can't imagine being with someone from a different "generation". Not that I think its weird or wrong, just hard to picture for me!

Whenever we fight and I'm wrong, I remind him he is 4 yrs older than me, has to act way more mature and understanding and that younger ones make mistakes.
Whenever he is wrong, I remind him I'm younger than him and still got it right.
Poor guy, in either case, he ends up getting me chocolates!! :D :D :D

Hubby and I share a birthday. He is 4 years older than me. But technically, I stopped having birthdays and just have an anniversary of my 39th Birthday!!!! I've had a "couple" of anniversaries!! =)

I'm similar to you, I've always had older boyfriends but hubby is four years younger than me (although he acts older LOL). It's funny, years ago I was on the phone with an insurance agent and she was going over our birthdates and she says "Oh, so you're robbin the cradle aren't ya" I thought geez, he's not THAT much younger. Maybe it was because he was still in his 20's and I was in my 30's? Who knows!

Hubby is 6 months older... pretty much the same age :)

My husband is almost 2 years younger, but he looks older. When we first got together, I was 36 and still got carded at bars and casinos. It used to make him so mad that they would card me and not him. I told him it's because he smoked. (which is true, and he spent a lot of time in the southern sun).

Hubby is 5 years older than me. Sometimes he seems to forget that - in that he thinks I would have been watching the same stuff on TV as him, when in fact he was 9 years old, watching Roots and Welcome Back Kotter, and I was only 4.

I am 6.5 years older. Most people don't know that.

Similar to Kellie, my husband is 8 years older than me, but from time to time when we're out, we're mistaken for father and daughter. He HATES that! It's because he has salt and pepper hair (which I love), and I just look younger than I am.

I have only ever dated one younger guy and he was 2 years younger, I was in college, he wasn't, and he was SOOOOOOO IMMATURE.

He's a year older. I'd only dated younger(is: less "experienced") because I liked being in control of the relationships. Turns out he was less "experienced" and I was still in control, poor man never knew what hit him. :)

My husband is 12.5 years older than me. We actually graduated the same day. He was graduating from high school and I graduated from Kindergarten. At first you would have never known he was older, he looked young for his age and acted younger too. Now 15 years later it is a lot more obvious~!

I am 3 months older than my husband. It's funny though because he looks a lot older than me. We are both 31 and people think I'm 20ish and people think he is around 35ish. I get crazy looks when people find out I have a 7 and 5 year old, lol!

My hubby is one year younger and I like it like that. Older men creep me out. LOL. My son lovingly calls me a cougar no matter how many times I tell him that Hubby and I would need to be at least 15 years apart in age which would never happen. I don't want to have to raise the guy I'm dating. LOL again.
