A.V.
I was very happy to see that my ancient car's dashboard lights were suddenly and mysteriously working again. Does that count?
I have recently become a Taylor Swift fan. I didn't really like her when most of her songs were kind of pitiful and lovelorn but since "We are never ever getting back together" I've really liked her songs. This is quite a departure for me in that my tastes still run mostly toward rock/hard rock.
Anyway, a friend got us tickets to her concert in July and I'm so freaking excited! As a mom of mostly boys, and a non-girly step-daughter who moved in with us as a teen, I NEVER have an excuse to do fun, girly things. Green Day and Metallica? Sure, I'm there with my boys. Sporting events? Yep. 60,000 screaming girls singing along to a pop singer? Not so much LOL. This will actually be my first pop concert, ever.
So...I'm super excited to go and realized that I haven't been this excited about something that I'm doing just for me in a looooonnnnggg time. What have you done lately that's gotten you psyched up?
Yay thanks for playing everyone - I LOVED reading all of your responses. Have a wonderful weekend!!

I've been extremely excited since yesterday. My husband and I have not had a "real" vacation, more than 4 days, in the 7 years we've been together. Well, we still aren't getting a 'real' vacation but decided yesterday to take 3 days and go to Sedona next month. This is a big deal because we fought for and lost guardianship of his 18 yo special needs daughter this year AND I'm battling some health issues that we still don't know what's causing it. So a mindless break is something we really, really need and I can't stop thinking about it. lol I think I might even pack this weekend I'm so ready. =0)
ooh man!! JB!! I'm soo happy for you!!!
I'm excited for my friend...she's having a professional photo shoot done!!
What am **I** excited about? Well...I'm nervous and excited about changes in my job...and company....change can be scary...it is...but I"m really excited too!!
Great question!!!
Surprising my kids on Christmas eve with a trip to Disney World! I can barely contain the secret!! 39 days!!
I hope you have a wonderful time!!!!
My excitement is from today!!! Just got home from Dr. and I not longer an required to wear the brace on my left ankle or boot on my right foot! I am FREE!!!!! To go back to walking my 5 miles or more a day, BUT, it is too cold right now. I just have to be careful.
I'm also excited because our Toy Poodle passed his 1yr anniversary Dr. appt for his cataract surgery with flying colors and his bionic eye is working perfectly. No more eye drops... We have been administering eye drops from as little as 1 drop to as many as 6 drops of different meds daily for a year!!
Even though I am freezing my butt off in Texas right now, it is a good day! We are heading out later to meet up with our regular Friday Night Happy Hour friends!!
I recently started playing guitar again after not having held a pick in my fingers for over a year. I didn't realize how much I had missed it until I started doing it again, and then I couldn't figure out how I could have possibly lived a whole year without it.
I can't wait to get home from work so that I can pick up my guitar and play some more.
I am so excited for you! First POP concert! Be sure to take about $40. so you can purchase a tshirt..Heck ask Santa for the $40. so you can use it for a tshirt. And maybe some more money to Maybe also purchase a Program.
I get excited about weird things. Yesterday we decorated our first home for this holiday season! So my crew came together, so good to see all of them. Good to see the client.
Today, I will probably make my final decision on the home we are about to purchase! I am excited and terrified.
We saw the Actor Cary Elwes a month ago in person. He was here to promote his book and to participate in a HUGE "Princess Bride Quote Along"!
That book and Movie have been a huge part of our marriage. we were on the 3rd row! I could hardly wait.
I know you'll have a blast! I suggest you make a weekend of it! Hang out with your gals overnight, be silly, have fun!
When we first met (within 29 hours), and then doubled, our Kickstarter goal to help us raise the rest of the money we need to open our restaurant, we were over the moon! The amazing amount of support - both monetary and otherwise - we've received since starting this endeavor is overwhelming. I am so excited to fulfill our dream, one that has been in the works for over 6 years. Bring on 2015!
Concerts are the best! Have fun!
I have been a mom/stepmom for 28 years (oldest is 32 and youngest is 12) and hardly went out and did anything fun. Was too "busy" with work, school, and kids. Now, I'm in a relationship with a man who knows how to go OUT. I'm having a blast. I've been to several concerts, movies, and events over the last months. We don't go crazy (still have work, school, and kids), but we get out of the house. It's so nice...
Have fun!
Last Saturday I had an appendectomy, so I'm excited about getting to wear non-pajama clothes again. And being able to go to the pub for dinner again. (Dying for fish and chips!) And my jigsaw puzzles came yesterday! My new houseslippers came the day after I got home from the hospital. Perfect timing as I wore the old ones to the hospital and should probably burn them, ha!
So, excited on the low end of the scale, but very happy with what I've got and what I'm looking forward to!:)
Oh, and JB, you might appreciate this. May PMyou with it as you might not see this:

I recently went to see a jazz quartet perform Duke Ellington and I have tickets to the symphony pops performance of Simon And Garfunkel.
My art is in a show this weekend! I also have another gallery that said they would carry my work, I finished a new piece last night and am starting on a new piece tomorrow!!!
Most importantly though...my foot is feeling better the last 2 days. I injured it on July 28th and have had debilitating pain since then. Fingers crossed my procedure was a permanent fix and that I don't need surgery!!!
How fun!! I hope you have a blast!!
My 15 year old is gearing up for his learners permit. Tyler and I are both nervous and excited as our oldest becomes more independent.
I'm also looking forward to Thanksgiving. It will be the first without my father in law and we are working on keeping his memory with us. Our boys are working on a photo journal for their grandmother, of all their times together growing up. Tyler and I are very proud of our boys for wanting to do this on their own.
That sounds like sooo much fun!! Have a blast!!
Last thing I got really excited about was a trip with my hubby and two other couples to Las Vegas. We went just this past May. We didn't go for the "Vegas" stuff. We rented a house, enjoyed the dry heat, swam in the pool and just hung out together. It was super chill...just what we were looking for.
Now we are all planning a trip to Hawaii together this coming spring.
Have fun singing and dancing with all them screaming girls!!! You deserve it!!
Aw, good for you. Have fun. No scratch that, have a blast! Enjoy
yourself.
Last thing I did for myself like this? Hmm, 7 years ago, took a road trip w/
a girlfriend. gone 3 days. It was a blast!
I'm a single mom, and I work two jobs, so there isn't much time for fun, and a vacation is something other people do. My daughter and I are huge Harry Potter fans. It took me years, but I finally was able to get us to Universal Studios to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I didn't realize until we were walking from the parking lot to the gate just how excited I was and how I hadn't been really excited about anything for so many years. I did a little happy dance on the people mover conveyor belt thingy, my daughter thought I was nuts, but it was really a big deal to me to finally have gotten there after so long.
Have a great time at the concert!!
Trying to research, plan and design a patio for out back.
My brother was in town last week on business, and we got to see him for a quick visit. I was so excited and happy! We had a great visit!
The nice thing about the concert being several months away is that you have a lot of time to anticipate and feel that excitement! So glad you got this nice surprise!
I say have a blast at the concert and shake shake shake it all and scream a bit to let out any anxiety. I did that several years ago when I took my daughter and a friend to a New Kids on the Block concert in Germany. Yes, it was a bit loud but boy did I feel good when we left all the pent up aggravation and worry was gone. (Hubby was TDY to another country for desert shield/storm.)
Take time for yourself. Put you on the calendar and do things for you as no one else will. Love you and the rest will love you. Sometimes we moms have to make us first.
Oh I am looking forward to a concert in March in Oklahoma City for Fleetwood Mac. The ticket price was right so hubby and I are going to spend a few days enjoying the city. Tickets for Denver and Dallas were over the top my purse strings.
May all my momma friends have a happy, healthy, safe, memorable holiday season. Enjoy the roasted chestnuts on the open fire, the popcorn on strings, carolers in the malls, halls and streets, the decorated stores, and lighted houses.
the other S.
I just returned from my dream adventure - Cheysma, we think alike! We were two moms and adult daughters who zoomed to Universal for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter when it first opened - it was the best weekend I'd ever had! We just returned from Orlando again, saw the Diagon Alley part of the park (and everything else) and also spent several days at Disney (which my daughter loves - she made a great tour guide for us). I saved money for a couple years and we planned a long time in advance, so we had such a great time anticipating the trip! I'm going to take my son there in a few months. Adult kids are great to travel with, especially when they can pay their own way and are old enough to share a Wizard's Brew with me!
I was recently excited about going to Portland, Oregon with my son for a visit.. We had a blast.. The people there are so nice and it's such a gorgeous city, esp in the fall.. Now, I am looking forward to Christmas, when my aunt comes to visit...
I went to a concert the other night. I haven't been to a small rock venue since having kids. It felt wonderful to drink and be surrounded by amazing live music. It was the first time I've felt truly alive in a long time.
I use to go to shows at least once a month, and then to operas a few times a year.
I realized I need more live music in my life. I use to listen to music 24-7. I need that again, and I'm excited about it. We're finally going to buy rock band for Xmas, I can't wait to jam out with my little people!
I'm psyched to spend this weekend with my mom doing some fun stuff!
Not a huge TS fan, but GEEZ some of those hooks are catchy!
Shake it off, shake it off, oh oh....🎧🎤🎼
Have fun!
Last year, through research, my husband found an entire separate family on my late Mom's side, living in another state. I have relatives who are so excited to know me and my family, as I am to know all of them. We had a big meet-up and I am planning to see them again soon. I am so very fortunate.
I just found out that soon, my request for a transfer to a closer office has been granted, and I'll be transferring to an office that's just 10 miles away. I have been driving 75 miles one way to get to work the past 3 years, which means it takes me about 2 hours to get home in LA traffic.
i love that you're going to a pop concert, and are squeeing over it!
your question got me thinking. it's a little sad, but i don't get super-excited about much any more. the plus side is that i'm much calmer and more content than days of yore. all the peaks and valleys seem to have mellowed. it's lovely not to be plunged into gloom or anxiety, but i do miss leaping about with almost-unbearable excitement over christmas or vacations.
i AM pretty stoked that my younger is coming home for a visit tomorrow, and we'll be able to watch the walking dead together!
