Juicers/blenders?

Does anyone out there use a juicer to make both fruit and vegetable juices at home? If so, do you recommend any particular brand? I'm interested in making juices from whole vegetables, sort of expanding the whole smoothie thing, for both my daughter and me. But I'm lost in the various options. Any thoughts/experiences/recommendations are much appreciated.

So What Happened?

Thanks for the help. I just ordered the Breville from Amazon.com. I'm really excited. I was very torn about the Vita-Mix, but what I'm really looking for is juicing and we've got a blender (a lousy one, but, still...) and a CuisinArt, which makes good soups, so I think the Breville is a good choice for us. Many thanks again!

Check out howhealthworks.com. Scott Ohlgren has researched juicers to the max. He recommends a twin helix motor, stainless steel, and EASY CLEAN...otherwise you won't use it! Great stuff to think about before purchasing your juicer. Best to you.

J. - My favorite juicer has been the Vita-mix. We currently own 3 different juicers (and have purchased even more!) and the Vita-mix (around $500) is the one we use the most, probably because it's the easiest to use and cleanup. There are different juicers for different goals - ie: juice extraction vs. blending. We like the idea of keeping the fiber in the the juice for the daily type of juicing, whether it's juice or veggie based. The other two types of juicers we own are a Champion (around $300) (which is also very good at juice extraction, especially for wheatgrass) and the Norwalk (around $2K) - which is probably the best (but for me the most difficult) juicer you can purchase. It is a sort of hydraulic press - and for juice extraction keeps the integrity of the nutrition very high with minimal enzyme loss. Hope that helps. Good luck - T.

We use our vitamix daily. we love it. It makes excellent smoothies and soups. If you're looking for straight juice without the pulp I recommend the Breville Juice Fountain. Both excellent products.

I just got the Breville as a gift for Mothers Day. Apparently its one of the best - who knew?! I love it. Its not difficult to use or clean. What a nice surprise to receive & I'm hooked - I'll be using it for years. Good luck.

Several people I know have the Breville juicer and they love it. I plan to buy one as soon as I'm able because I have an old juicer that is not too great.
