Just Curious.... - Cherryville,MO

I have noticed this happens to me a lot and I was curious if it happened to other moms.

I respond to a post.....
Then mom "x" comes along a few minutes later and bascially (or near verbatim) repeats what I say (not because she is copying, just because it is probably the logical answer in that scenario and/or the majority opinion).
Then 5 moms will come along and either repeat exactly what I said or say "I agree with mom x" - like I am not even posting! lol
Is it because some don't read all posts or something? Just curious....it literally makes me laugh out loud sometimes.

Oh goodness - I really hope no one takes offense to this.....I really am just asking out of curiousity! I love all you ladies and not one person has ever "copied" me or anything ridiculous. (as I stated above). So no crabbiness today!
Didn't I just say that? =)

So What Happened?

Just curious how many times I have to type that I don't think it is copying.....

Rachael - hilarious. Seriously cracked up out loud.

LOL XINE!!!!

I was more referring to when I (or someone else) type an answer, the answer is, say, the third response. Responses one and two below me will get a fourth poster saying "hey, I agree with them" even though I said the same thing and my answer came after them in chronological order so the fourth responder had to scroll down past my answer (oh, jesus, there's that S. b*&%ch again - she has NO CLUE what she is talking about...moving on!) haha! I am completely kidding! I am probably making no sense now and this question was silly to begin with. Lol!

I think that--across the nation--we are all sometimes typing and posting at the same time.

Well...I'm a "first-responder" many times so maybe I don't notice it as much....

I don't always read what others write so I might be guilty of "copying" you.

Sorry.

Do you ever notice that you respond to a post, and then mom 'x' comes along and repeats it, like I never even said it?

LOL, I'm teasing. I'm probably 1/2 guilty of that, I sometimes don't read the other responses before posting my own response. Sorry ;)

Yes, not everyone reads all the responses prior to posting their response so there is a great deal of overlap.

Thanks for a great question. :-) I had a lot of fun reading all these answers... and I am writing something completely different (even though I'm thinking the same thing)!!

Sometimes I do both, like right now, I am typing that I don't read all of the other responses, even though it's already been said. Sometimes if I see a post and someone else has said what I was going to say then I will just send a flower to that response. I guess it just depends on my mood. :)

Sometimes if there are a lot of answers, I will only read the top few... so I only see the most recent posts, not the ones that answered first, so I might reference someone closer to the top even if they answered pretty much the same thing as someone who answered earlier... :P

I know what you mean.. I always read all the posts first and sometimes decide not to give my opinion since several others said pretty much what I'd say,, unless it is a poll or it will make a difference to include the same answer more than a few times.Sometimes I see only 3 people have commented and I write what I think, and I proof read and make sure it all looks right so I dont come off as a real dummy, and by the time I send my comment,, there are 14 other comments and a bunch of them will be the same as mine! I think we sometimes do have the same ideas and its all about timing. So, who knows, it's just the way it is. But I think we all want to be the first to have the best suggestion. (ok that's the greedy, show off side of me)..
ok see... when I started my answer there were only 12 posts, and by the time I was done and sent mine, there were 14 and sure enough Katie B said pretty much the same as I did. thanks KatieB..make me look like a copy cat huh? lol

If someone has posted something that I am like "yes!" I 'send a flower.' However, if I need to add a bit more I may say, "i agree with X, and also . . ."
I think sometimes, though, it is difficult to read all the responses and sometimes the repeating is to really drive home that you are not the only person with the same take on the situation. Kind of like when you ask your gal pal something, you don't really like the answer and think she is biased, but then you get the same response from everyone else you realize. . . maybe not so off-base:)

I sometimes will do this more to type it out through my head again. I think i do it honestly I dont pay that close attention sometimes. I will usually post my response to someones question before I go through what others have written. I will go back and put in my response though that i agree with whoever i responded close too. And give them a flower for the likeness.

I must confess that sometimes I miss a post, or do not read them all so I can be a repeat. Also more then one person can "be the first to answer" because if the mom is still writing it is not a post till she actaully hits post, if many are thinking alike it will be the same info.

Usually, if there a few or many posts already I say "as many other moms have said..." filling in what I also think, maybe adding a thing or two. I do think that it is important, if it is something I feel strongly about, to say I agree with some of the other moms because blah, blah, blah... this way the poster can see that a lot or many moms feel the same or think this so maybe then the poster will take it seriously.

It means we don't all scroll all the way down before typing. And I bet someone 4 or 5 answers down has already written this :)

I think it's often like a conversation. We've all been in conversations were some personalities choose to restate the position even if it's the same as the person speaking. That's how they show their agreement, where other personalities might simply say, I agree (or in the case of Mampedia, send a flower). Sometimes there are too many responses to read through, sometimes responses are posted simultaneously and sometimes the person asking the question is actually looking for "votes" to settle a dispute. I often just send flowers and move on but in conversation I'm also the personality that just says "I agree with you."

I start a lot of answers with either "I have not read the other responses..." which I think deserves it's own acronym.... JFF....so that would be' IHNROR.'

Or I write in Ditto to Mom X - that's only if I have one more thought to add, then I add my thought.

Otherwise I just leave flowers for the smart answers and move on.

And Ditto Denise P...I thought I was a first responder earlier on another Q and by the time I hit post, I was the 8th or something.

I seldom see outright plagiarism or copy cat answers....there's almost always a new twist or different wording to each answer where a few choice words might be re-used.

I personally think its because we don't read all the responses. I know I don't. I love this sight and I love all the help and I love offering help, but I don't have time to read them all. Plus I guess if 15 moms say the same answer, its probably correct, right? :)

I NEVER read the responses before I post ... I do not want my answer to be "influenced" by anyone elses. Now, I may edit mine after posting and reading the posts but rarely mention person "x" in the post. If there are a lot of responses I skim and if something catches my eye I read in detail. So, if I have been an "offeder" (lol) that's why. I think it's easier to read the 5 or so posts before yours if you are going to read only a few... curse of being an early responder!

I only usually read the first few responses, if even that. I don't really care if I'm repeating or not. I just say it like it is and what I think. So I'm sure this is a repeat of what someone else has said since you have 22 replies and I haven't read any of them!!! :o)
