Would You like to Be Able to Reply Back and Forth to Questions Posted Here?

Hi ladies - Mike D (Admin) mentioned that Mamapedia was designed so that there was no way to banter back and forth on questions. I for one would LOVE to be able to answer a question and come back later and add some more input without having to go back to my original answer and add to it (will anyone see it?).

So, what do you think? Let's let the Admins know what we want. After all, we are the ones using it!

Happy Friday!!

As a long time user of this site I actually would NOT want that. I think it becomes too much like Facebook with all the back and forth. Not that I have anything against Facebook, I love it and use it, but I like that this format is a little more contained. Especially considering all the strong and emotional opinions here, it could get unpleasant to say the least.

Actually, I think I like the current format. While I sometimes come back and revisit questions, I wouldn't like to feel like I was expected to come back.

What I would like, as a poster, is to have some kind of notification when someone updates a previous answer. Then I wouldn't miss any updates and, as a responder, I would know that the original poster knows that I updated (getting rid of the "will anyone see it" question).

I don't like the idea because the potential for nastiness would be huge.

We already do.
We add additional comments after our initial post.
Also private messaging between people works fine.
I like it as it is and don't want it to change.
If it becomes like Facebook, I'd leave.
I loathe Facebook.

I like the flowers!

No, I would not.

If I want more info from someone, I am fine with PMing them.

ETA: Thank you for asking :-)

I have to say, I don't think I'd like the banter.

I do wish more moms would leave a SWH. Or better yet, come back on in a week and do an update. I think that would be very beneficial to other moms (you know.. what worked and what didn't).

Although the other day the grandmother with PSTD left a SWH on her first question, and called us all nasty. So that time .. not so much.

I am having major issues using the site. I have to shut down and reopen it constantly because it's so slow to type or it just freezes up.

No. If it allowed for that kind of back and forth this would just become like so many other debate pages where people get nasty back and forth. I like it the way it is personally.

no, i agree with mike (for once) that it tends to devolve. that's what FB is for. i'd like to see the glitch fixed. we can always edit if more needs to be added.
ETA what i'd like to see fixed is the back button issue. i posted prematurely that it was working correctly again. that was short-lived.

Happy Friday :) I actually like it the way it is now, so my vote is no. There are other sites that allow the banter and it gets quite ugly.

ETA: Just have to add I love sending/receiving flowers. I use them to thank the person who takes the time to give a thoughtful opinion, to say I agree, or even a thanks, wish I would have thought of that!

No, I would not want to see the format change. I think if people want to add more, they can use the Edit option and add content, or if it's the person posting, they can do a SWH.

I would love to be able to respond to individual answers to the questions I post, without having to send a private message. Often I agree with someone or they ask a question in their response, and I'd love to respond directly. And I agree with you as well - it would be great to add input more easily.

Well, there are pros and cons to both sides. On one hand people could get some really interesting arguments going on. We could type in a comment on someone's reply too, like "Hey, that's an interesting point" or "I hadn't thought if that point of view". We could also GET RID OF THOSE STINKING FLOWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There wouldn't be any need to do so. We could simply like an answer if we didn't want to reply to anything.

BUT I also think that being able to talk back and forth could make controversial posts or comments fodder for fighting and hurt feelings and more. I mean, how many times have we gone back through a question and the comments and seen ETA....blah blah blah...ETA...yell yell yell?

It's hard enough when you post a question about something that is painful or means a great deal to you and someone picks out a thought or word you used and starts a line of thought on that single thing and your original question isn't even answered.

I know when I've asked a question and had cranky answers I tried to use the SWH and it was a foot long before I responded to everyone who said something that seemed to need more clarification. So if we had the ability to respond back then it might have gone even longer.

So I don't know. I would like to be able to respond to others sometimes that posted a comment on someone else's question but not enough to send a message.

If the moderators are listening. Please delete the flowers. I don't even go to check messages or anything. It's too time consuming and drives me crazy.
