Hello Moms!
You know I got to thinking about this website and how we all ask questions that are typically to do with some not so fun phases our children go through and how to work through them and I thought that it might be fun to ask a question where the answers will make you laugh and possibly brighten your day so, here goes:
*** What does your child say or do that is so cute or so funny that you just wish everyone else could experience it because you know it would bring a smile to their faces just as it brings a smile to yours?
When my son, Logan, decides he doesn't want something on his plate (sometimes it's half a piece of Chex cereal because he'll only eat the pieces that are whole - silly kiddo) he'll hand it to me and say "For garbage man." :) As a stay-at-home Mom, that is the kind of moment during the day-to-day that I truly cherish. It warms my heart - I just think it is one of the cutest, funniest things he says and had to share it with all of you!
To all you Great Mothers out there with such wonderfully funny children: Thank you so much for all of the many great responses! I looked forward to reading them every day - they were both heartwarming and hilarious! Keep on keepin' on - you are all fabulous!!
K. :)

I'm a 53 year old mom of 4, and my baby is 20. One of my fondest memories is shopping with my now 24 yr old son. When he got tired of walking, he'd look up at me with his big brown pleading eyes..and say "carry me up, I'm getting heavy"!
My oldest, now almost 30, used to crawl out of her bed at night, and crawl into the living room with a blanket over her head. She thought if she could not see us, we could not see her.

Yea! A happy thread!
My favorite age is 4 and 5. Kids have enough of a vocabulary to communicate their ideas, but not enough understanding of the world to have it all fit together. It's when I hear them say the funniest things.
The other day my 5 year old was talking at the table while we were doing crafts and started telling me a story from preschool. He made a mistake in the retelling and said, "Oh, my bad" while he touched his hands to his chest then flicked them outward as if brushing off the error. I have no idea where he picked it up, as it's not a saying my husband or I use.
Other times I'll hear him use very grown up phrases that he has heard me use but in a very kid-like context. I'll often tell the kids I tutor in mathematics, "Well my technique for doing this is..." when I'm explaining a process. My 5 year old will use the same phrase when explaining how he is coloring or how he intends to pick up his room as in, "My technique is to pick up my dirty clothes then shove the rest of the stuff in my closet." ;) And he wonders why that wont fly with me.

Here recently my 6 year old has come up with a good one. The other day we are in the kitchen doing crafts and he turns to me and says, "Mom, my leg pit itches." I stopped and looked at him wondering where his leg pit was at. He pointed to the back of his knee and said you know mom right here on my leg. I got to laughing and said to him that most people just usually call it the back of you knee but leg pit was understandable reasoning.

K. and all,
Instead of hoping that you will remember all of these sweet things that your little ones say and do, write them down!
When my first son was born, I bought a spiral bound pack of index cards. As he started to talk, I wrote down the date and what he could say. Then, as the funny phrases started popping up, I would write them down, along with the situation surrounding it and made sure to date them. I chose the bound index cards because I thought they would hold up much longer than regular paper since it is more like cardstock.
My boys are now 10 and 12, and I still add things to their "quote books". They think it is hilarious to go back and read the silly things that they said when they were little!
I keep the books on my bedside table and flip through them every once in a while . . . especially when I am struggling with the pre-puberty issues or the "they aren't babies anymore" feelings!

My two year old is the only girl with 5 older brothers she has a very good vocabulary and talks in 3 or 4 word senteces but there are three words she refuses to expand on. One is water it means water, milk, juice or anything she see some one else drinking sometimes we play the guessing game to figure out just what she wants. two Cracker anything anyone is snacking on or wants to snack on and three Cheese anything really good is cheese it is her favorite food, so cheese is usually chocalate, cookies. And and last but not least, she knows everyones names grandma, grandpa, rosa, aunts and uncles. But she calls all of the brothers Bryce my middle sons name. She refuses to call them by anything but Bryce. She even knows the cat and dogs name but won't call her brothers by name. She makes us laugh alot because we know she is smart enough to say exactly what she means.

This is a great idea! My son is 2 1/2 and always says funny things. Right now his new thing to say is "new batteries" if anything isn't working right ... or as he says it... "new batties". We've also been teaching him please and thank you, so when he wants something or if you give him something he'll say "please dank you" all together. It's so funny. The best though was what he said several months ago .... if I was making dinner or giving food to our dog, I'd say - are you hungry or Mimi is hungry. So, he started to copy, naturally.... but he'd say hungry like horny. So, we'd hear him say Mimi horny, or Daddy horny. It was SO funny. He's got the word down better now - but it's something we'll never forget!! I can't believe how quickly these kids grow up. :)

My daughter often takes on an "adult" tone when we are talking at the table and likes to ask questions (generally "why...(repeating something my husband just said)") to integrate herself into the conversation. Sometimes her questions are pretty creative though. The other day my husband daughter (3.5) and I were having breakfast. It was the day before my husband's birthday so we were talking about birthdays. As serious as every she pipes in, "How next is everybody's birthday are?" My husband and just stopped and looked at her trying to contain the laughter. Of course she meant "whose birthday is next" but figuring that conjugation out under such adult pressure!
I was helping her the other day make a card for her dad and guiding her arm from stamp pad to paper and she told me, "Let go! You are hoggin' all my arm!"
I keep a journal for my kids (typed) of all the great stuff like this. I scribble it down on shopping lists, mail, calendars etc, whatever is closest when I hear or experience it and then type them up in the evenings. It is a hoot and like someone else said, we DO forget as much as we don't want to; so find a way to collect your child's gems. It's too fun. I actually even keep all the dumb stuff my husband and I say and put it in an anniversary book every year.

I love the way kids learn to speak - when they are trying so hard, but yet don't get the words quite right. Like my daughter currently asks me to hold her hand, but it comes out, "Hold you my hand, Mommy." And things like, "No me didn't!" and one of my favorites, "I love you you!"
It doesn't last but a year or two and it's so cute.
Thanks for asking a fun question!

Hi K.,
Your post was pretty funny.I have a 5 year old son who comes up with the funniest comments sometimes. Whenever he misbehaves, I have to remember his comments and it brings a smile to my face. The other day he saw a picture of his ultrasound that we have on the refrigerator and he asked if that was his picture when he was in my tummy. I said that yes, it was and he said, with a very serious face, "Mommy why did you eat me? I was not quite sure how to answer that so I told him, mommy was really hungry. He then smiles at me and says "Ok". In a few years I will let him know that Mom did not actually eat him :)

I love the words kids come up with for "real" words! For the longest time oatmeal was "oak-a-milk", cartoons were "tarcoons", and dog was "dog-dog". Now that they're getting older (4 and 6)they don't have too many made up words =( Thank god I wrote them all down so I can now refer back to the baby book.

I think its a great idea to share the good and cute things about our children as well. I have two boys also, Tyler who's 9 and Trevin who's 3.
Not so long ago (right before christmas) My husband and I and kids were getting ready to go some where and my youngest was whinning about something. My husband asked me what was wrong and I said I'm not sure but he is driving me crazy (I wasnt aware that he was standing right behind me) and out of the blue he says "no mom I drive you nuts!" with the biggest grin on his face. I will never forget that, I laugh everytime I think about saying that to the kids now.

Hubby nearly drive off the road and couldn't wait to tell me! I have no idea where that came from! Things DO NOT happen! We still giggle over that one.

Ok I do have a funny one!
When my kids were little and hurt themselves I would say "let me kiss it and make it feel better", as most of us do. When potty training my son, one day while at the toilet he slammed the seat down and well caught his "manhood" in between the seat and edge of toilet--You guessed it. He turned to me in tears and said "kiss it and make it feel better" While trying not to laugh, I explained that I could not, but a kiss on the forhead would be best!!! I will remember that day as long as I live!!!

This isn't really a repetitive thing my son does, but my husband and I were rolling with laughter for quite awhile after my son learned to open doors and get out of his bedroom one night.
It was a weekend and my husband and I were watching a movie a couple hours after putting my son to bed. All of a sudden we started to hear Logan knocking on the door then a louder bang. We looked down the hallway and he had pulled a chair up to his door, turned the door knob and was trying to open the door. Unfortunately the wooden chair was in the way and he kept knocking into it.
We put him to bed and continued on with our movie when Logan woke up and started the same routine. This time he was able to open the door without knocking into the chair and came out to the living room to show us how proud he was. We put him back to bed, again, and then.....
We had a spy sneaking out of his bedroom a few minutes later with flashlight in hand and blanket over his head so we couldn't 'see' him. If that didn't make us laugh he was hauling his wooden stool, set it down on the other side of the living room from us and sat down without a peep. He wouldn't look at us for several seconds until my husband and I both started cracking up at the whole scene.
Needless to say Logan got to stay up with his laughing mommy and daddy to watch the movie until he fell asleep!

Sad, but the cutest thing ever. About 1 year ago, my then 3 1/2 year old was able to bring his new baby brother home from the hospital after not being able to see the baby or his mommy for about 6 weeks. I was very nervous about what big brother would do to the baby. These boys are #3 & 4 and the older two at this age with the new baby were typical not to happy to have competition in the house kids. But my 3 year old would sit on the floor next to his baby brother and just rub his baby's head saying "This is my baby, I love my baby" over and over. He has been the best big brother that any baby could ever have. I never dealt with jealousy with him. He is very mindful of his baby and I have found him in tears over his baby's "hurts".
Sad but beautiful!

When my son John was about three we were taking a walk when we came upon a woolly caterpiller in the middle of the road, flat as a pancake and all dried out. John hunkered down next to it and said, "Poor woolly bear. He must not have looked both ways before he crossed the street."
Or... When my daughter was about three we were driving along and I could tell she was thinking. After a while she said, "Mother, the trouble with ice cream is that it often slides off the spoon onto a child's body."
I hope when I'm old and someone has to wipe my chin I still remember stuff like this!

My DD of 3yrs (almost 4) has a wonderful imagination. We went on a mommy/daughter dinner at Red Lobster (she loves crab) and I got her a smoothie. She drank most of it before the meal came and told me she was cold. So I told her to eat some biscuit and maybe it would warm her up. She did and told me "the biscuit is attacking the ice and warming my belly up"
She also likes to pretend to be animals and on a recent Saturday as my husband and I laid in bed she came in our room hopped on the bed and told us she was a cow and then mooed a long slow mooooo. She was wearing all pink and I told her
"I've never seen a pink cow, do you give pink milk?"
"No, cows only give white milk and I am brown and white, not pink."
"Dad here is your pail to milk me, put it on the bed right here."
He does and she crawls on her hands and feet until standing over the pail and says "now you have to milk me, pull on my pink parts."

My almost 18 month old is really into construction trucks and vehicles and he has lots of picture books with bulldozers and dumptrucks etc. We were driving on the interstate last weekend and came upon a convoy of a half dozen flatbed semi trucks hauling construction vehicles. So, of course we called his attention to them, naming them off as we drove by each one. After we passed the last one, my husband and I went back to chatting with one another. Suddenly from the back seat we hear, "Dad! Dad!" we turn around and look and Harvey is signing "more." It was so cute- and it felt so empowering to think my son thought we had the power to get more trucks for him to look at.

This is great idea. I just read the other responses and couldn't help but laugh and smile.
Here is something my son does that I think is very sweet. When it is time for bed we go through the same ritual that he has come up with over the last couple of weeks.
He first has to give Mommy, Daddy, and Papa a hug. Then he starts over and gives each of us a kiss on each cheek. I then pick him up and he waves and says bye bye to Daddy and Papa. He continues doing this until they respond. He next tells them night night. Finally he says I Love You while making an "L" with his thumb and finger (at this age he isn't able to make the I love you symbol in sign language so he improvised.)
I know that he is just trying to stay up later, but every night I can't help but smile.
On the cute side, when you ask my son if he is a good boy he looks at you very seriously and says NO! I then ask him what type of boy he is and he replies while pointing to himself "naughee boy". If you ask him directly if he is a naughty boy he laughs and tilts his head and gets this wicked grin on his face and says "yes, me a naughee boy". Then he runs to you and gives you a hug laughing.

We live over 700 miles away from any family, so my kids see their grandma(who actually lives in Australia) via webcam. Or we talk to her Aunts or grandpa on the phone . Well, My daughter doesn't seem to know the difference between the two. when she talks to her aunts on the phone she just goes on and on about everything. She walks around the house telling them about everything she sees. if she is looking at a houseplant, she tells them about the houseplant. If she sees the dog, she tells them about the dog. Then she holds the phone out to whatever it is she is talking about and says "you see?" As if they can see it through the phone. My sisters have learned to just play along and pretend that they can see it.

It is so cute and he only does it with me, never my mom or the sitter or his dad. When I go to pick him up from daycare he will see me and put his face in his arm (like blocking a sneeze) and he will make the noise until I pick him up. He says "bewember" for remember, "tomorrow ago" for yesterday and when he means that his hands are full, he says "I need help...I'm full of hands." Those are my favorites. My favorite story is when he came up to me and said "Ya know mom.....when I speak Spanish, I don't understand myself!" I laughed so hard I made him cry because he thought I was making fun of him.

She was quiet for about 2 minutes and then she said, "Well if these are called craisins, why aren't raisins called graisins?" GOOD POINT!
My youngest, Kaitlyn will be 1 in a few weeks. She doesn't say a lot, but when we scold the dog, she points at him, shaking her index finger, smiling away. If she even hears us say "NO no doggie." she does that.

The first this that popped into my head after reading your post, however, is that my daughter LOVES to dance. I mean it doesn't even need to really be a song. It can be a jingle in a commercial or a brief tune in a TV show. Anything really.. she's been doing this since almost about the same time she could walk. Have to say also that she has a good beat/rhythm. She goes just about exactly in time to the song/tune. I have found, though, that she tends to crack me up daily :)

When my daughter was about 3yrs old, We had just bought a baby kitten named Snickers. When we were driveing somewhere, She said" out of the blue. Snickers is horney... My husband and I look at one another and said" what... We were actually looking at eachother with an evil eye, thinking which one of us would ever use that word and who tought her that word. She said" it again.. I was shocked, what she meant to be saying is ...Snickers Hungry... They say it the most inocent way and a baby talk. We laughed so hard. We just didnt understand what she was trying to say to us. She probley thought we were crazy.
Thanks for letting us laugh and think of the funny things.

My daughter, Riley, was "reading" one of my son's library books last night. BTW, she will be 4 in March. Anyway, she really doesn't know how to read, but her memory is pretty good and she just says what she remembers. There is a picture of a penquin in the book and is referred to a Macaroni Penguin and when she got to the picture, she said, "Macaroni and Cheese Penquin". I thought it was cute!

My 2 year old daughter has a sweet tooth like no one I've ever seen. A few funnies that have come of this are:
The other day, while on a "date" with her grandparents, headed for dinner, she boldly stated, "First, we'll have sugar..." As if that should be everyone's top priority!
One day while helping her say a prayer, she started inserting her own ideas, as she often does. In the middle of all this, she said, "and please bless that we can eat chocolate today." A girl after my own heart!

Fun question!
If you would ask my daughter, who turned 2 in November, if she was going to be a "big girl", she would yell, "NO! Daddy Baby!" She did that so much we had a t-shirt made that says "Daddy's Baby" on it for Christmas.
