I heard Kiddieland in Melrose Park is closing after this season and was thinking about taking my kids (4 1/2 year old and almost 2 year old twins). Has anyone been there lately? Is there enough for kids that age range to do?

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!

What can I do next?

I have twins who will be 3 in October, and we will be taking them there in a few weeks. I asked around our twins' club, and everyone said this is a great age to go. Someone took their 15 month old twins last year and said that even they had a great time.

I was there 2 weeks ago with my 3 1/2 year old and a 14 month old and they both loved it. I was worried that the 14 month old would just sit and watch her brother all day, but she was right there with him on many of the rides. It's too bad they're shutting down. It's such a great alternative to Great America for the smaller kids.

GO! It was a blast. My kids are 5, 2 1/2 and 12mo, and my 2 year old loved the rollercoaster and can't stop talking about when are we going back. We spent the entire day there and after 5 the park cleared out so my kids didn't even have to get off rides to go on again. I would recommend you bring another adult with you since the rides are small and only accommodate 1 adult and 1 child, there are some rides that you do need to ride with your children.

Have a great time, it was even fun for Mommy and Daddy.

They have lots there. I think a map is on their website which will help, but here's what I remember.

Cars that go around in a circle (like the carnival rides)
Boats that go around in a circle
Airplanes that go around in a circle and up and down
A little play area/playground
A train (uncovered)
A small roller coaster (I think it's 1 adult to 1 kid)
Carousel

Older Kid Stuff
Bumper cars (you would have to drive only 1 kid)
Log flume
Antique cars you drive
Scrambler
Water ride that you sit on the raft and go through tubes
Some ride that you sit in the car and it goes up and down

I seem to remember a problem with the roller coaster. There was a women with lots of little kids and they were requiring 1 adult to 1 kid. So keep that in mind with that ride. They had signs all over, but the woman didn't see them or ignored them and it was ugly when it was their turn to ride.

The food is pretty reasonably priced. I think a whole cheese pizza is like $12. They also have free fountain drinks, I don't know if it's just soda or if they have hi-c or lemonade.

You could do it alone if you just stuck to the little kid area and didn't do the roller coaster. It's not huge and the walking around shouldn't bother your older child. You could keep the other 2 in the stroller inbetween rides.

I went last year, so this is based on my (sketchy) memory of that.
