Hi all,
We are thinking about taking our kiddos on their first cruise next year but are nervous since my husband and I both got land sick after taking a cruise for our honeymoon several years back. Does anyone have good rememdies to combat land sickness?? There are gobs of options for motion sickness but am unclear if those same products would help with land sickness.
Thanks!

I had the same problem as Theresa. No sickness while on the boat, but I noticed when we had a day at land for shopping and excurtions I was kind of still "rocking." BUT when I arrived back home I was so ill that I went to my doctor. Water, rest, good nutrition/ vitamins, and these exercises:
when waking in the am go from your back to your side before "popping" out of bed. Then from side to sitting upright. Then lasty upright to standing. If you move in steps with a pause between each motion it did help me.
On a side note my daughter was fine the whole time, during and after! :)
Have fun!
yeah, that was definitley the weirdest feeling!!!!!!!!! we felt ok with the boat rocking, no sea sickness-- it felt a little weird but it was ok. but what got me was after we got home when i was walking in the front door up the stairs and i felt the boat rocking still!!! for at least 2 or 3 days!! it was the craziest feeling!! we just sat down and waited for the feeling to pass-- i didn't really throw up or anything... but i'd imagine those sea bands or ear accupressure beads would help.
Oh I get that feeling when weve been gone on a trip staying on a high floor of a hotel and I use the elevator several times a day. That funny floaty feeling you get when the elevator goes up or down. After we get back I can still feel that floaty. Also swimming, or soaking in a pool will give me those motion feelings later, but I dont get sick from it. Guess you could get those patch things, or wrist bands. I hear they work for sea sickness.
Make sure that you take non-drowsy Dramamine starting a day before the cruise and continuing until 2 days after getting off the ship. I also get land AND sea sick, but when I do it this way, I haven't had any problems. (The one time I didn't and OH MY GOSH!) Have fun!
P.S. Non-drowsy is harder to find, so make sure that you look at multiple places. Wal-Mart usually does not have it, but I believe CVS does...
I think the best bet is plenty of water and rest-we just got back from a cruise/immediately went to an amusement park for roller coasters, then drove 20 hours home. I was so sick for about 2 days but after some good rest/water I felt better.
