My daughter is left handed, no doubt about it, we just got her the tag system because her tag junior broke, she just got it, and has a hard time figuring it out because of how it works reading the words with her being left handed. Are any of your kids left handed and have the tag system? and if so is it easy for them to use? Granted she is 3 so is a little young of the tag still

**The tag system is from leap frog that helps kids learn to read, the jr reads the whole page and is made for 2-4 yr olds and has books, the tag is in the shape of a pen and has books and the tag books has games and activities for the kids to do and you go across the words with the "pen

***Yes ive tried and its hard well more awkard for me, i am right handed also though

What can I do next?

My eldest daughter is left-handed and has never had any problems with any tech games or gadgets because of being left-handed. We've actually found that most things are being made in an "ambidextrous fashion" so that anyone regardless of their handedness can use it. Even child safety scissors are made this way now. I have a pair of adult scissors that are ambidextrous that I let her use since she's 11 years old that works really well for her. She even has the option on gadgets to set things up for her left-handedness if she wants to. I think her cell phone has this option, although I don't honestly know what the changes would be.

As for Leap systems, she never had any issues with them as they always seemed to accommodate for either handedness.

Your child will get used to her left hand just fine. Let her figure this out. You can show her the proper way to hold a pencil in time, but for now, just let her do things with the hand that is most comfortable for her.

Both my girls are left handed. The worst of it is going out to eat. I never want to sit in a booth with either one of them, so I sit them together and I get to sit by Dad.

I'm left handed and so is 1 out of 3 of my kids. But what's a 'tag system?'

:)

Have you tried it with your left hand? That way you'll know if it's the left handedness or being three. My daughter is also three and right handed and can't always manipulate the pen the way she wants to.

I have a lefty and a righty - twin girls - that are almost 6. I don't think 3 is too young, my mother bought the gilrs' around 3. I have never noticed my lefty to have any issues with her tag reader. And, they do have the Explorer also, but are still using their tag reader some at this age as well. Maybe she just has to get used to holding the "bulky" pen - i imagine her hands are small due to her age.

My daughter is ambidextrous but prefers her left hand, and had a Tag...she worked it out herself. Might be a good way to teach her to use both.

I agree with someone below re: eating out...personally if it's her turn to sit with me it's a fiasco...especially if we sit down and don't pay attention to what side of the booth we sit in. Then we either trade with dad and bubbie or I sit on the inside!

I don't anything about the Tag system, but she will probably figure it out easier than you will so let her go for it.

I just wanted to say I'm with momwithcamera. Both my hubby and GD and left-handed. We go out to eat every Friday night and GD likes to sit next to me. We are always trading seats because we inevitably always sit on the wrong side of each other initially. Nothing is easy anymore!

I have two kids that are left handed and one that is right handed (both my husband and I are left handed as well). We have both the tag and tag jr. None of my kids have a problem using either system. I am sure she will get used to using it the more she uses it. It is all about perfecting fine motor skills so she will get better at it!

Is the pen attached with some kind of wire? If so, maybe part of it is that the device isn't designed with lefties in mind. I have trouble with some credit card readers that you have to sign, that have the wires attached. The wires are sometimes attached angled in a direction with the most common user in mind, ie, righties. If it's just a plain old round "pen" shape, though, and not attached, it's probably just being three. If the wire or string isn't necessary, and is just to keep the pen from being lost, maybe try removing it?

Has she tried it with her right hand? I ask because all my friends who are left handed do specific tasks with the right hand. A lot are computer related. My youngest is left handed but any device manipulation, like an iPod or my phone, she does with her right. Her DS, she uses the stylus in her right hand. I hope that makes sense.

It seems to be the new world for lefties.
