Hi mommies!

Lets share some tips to help our LOs sleep better.

What works for us (LO almost 7 months old):

Good routine for naps/night sleep - being more quiet towards "sleepy time," bath (before bedtime), reading books, saying "good night" to a few things in the room.

White noise

Keeping the room between 68-72 degrees

Keeping the room reasonably dark

Security blanket - we use small breathable ones from "Aden + Anais"

Comfortable PJs made of cotton.

Breathable mesh crib liner so that LO doesn't put stick his arms'legs between the crib slats

Keeping little tummy full before naps/night time

On the days that he wakes up early taking him outside shortly after he has woken up even if for a few minutes (for circadian rythm).

We don't use a pacifier but I've heard it works for a lot of babies.

What can I do next?

Maybe, I'm backwards....I didn't do a lot to get him to sleep. My fear, was he would always need a certain temperature, white noise, whatever else. I really wanted him to be able to adapt, and sleep well in any situation. I used to vacuum in the same room he was sleeping as a baby. I didn't avoid noise.

I realize that many babies do need a little more to be comfortable. This is just what worked for us. He can sleep anywhere, anytime.

I hope you take your baby out more than a few minutes a day. We did nothing special. Dinner, bath, play. Take to room, kiss, put in crib, closed
door. That was it. Books were read before going in room. I had my kids get used to sleeping in different places. Some noisy some quiet. They were very flexible. What I did not want was a child who had to have a certain blanket, with a certain noise etc. that can make traveling or visiting others a nightmare.

Not running in at the first sound baby makes; letting them try to settle themselves first.

You know... So much of it is just luck, pure & simple.

Same parents, same routines, different sleepers.
