We love Pediatrics at the Beach on Laskin Road. They are extremely helpful with breastfeeding, and have a lactation consultant on staff there who can help you anytime. She was super helpful with my baby, who is 8 weeks now. Good luck!
I need a new pediatrician badly. Just took my newborn in for her after birth check, and was bombarded with formula, and instructions on how to supplement to prevent newborn weight loss. Not the first time I've had issues with this pediatricians office, but this will definately be the last. I am looking for a doctor who is a militant type breastfeeding supporter, or at least won't even mention formula.

We LOVE Dr. Fink....they are wonderful!!!
No formula!! Pediatrics at the Beach are great!
When my son was born, he lost 1 lb. and had to put him on formula only for a few days to help get his weight up. But that was the only time. I was giving formula everyother feeding and still breastfeeding. I live in VB but go to CHKD Tidewater Assoc. on Kempsville Rd.-###-###-####. They are located down the street from Sentara Leigh Hospital. It is a travel but my ped. is sooo worth it...Love my ped. Her name is Dr. Karp. She supports breastfeeding and she takes the time to answer your questions. Write down your questions before you go in and she will answer them. If you call for an appt ask to see her. Hope this helps. Good luck....
I take my DS to General Boothe pediatrics and he sees The LC/nurse practioner Stacy Kucharzk! She is WONDERFUL as well as the staff! ###-###-####

Dr. Tara Prieur on First Colonial is very friendly to breastfeeding mothers. She has four chldren of her own that she breast fed - so she is very understanding.
Hi A.
my children go to Pediatrics @ the Beach. I think they are a wonderful group of doctors and are very much about breastfeeding. They even have a part time lactation consultant on staff. ###-###-####. they are located on First Colonial. Good Luck
Hi A.,
I have a fabulous pediatrician and she's an avid breastfeeding supporter. Dr. Melissa Lexier is at the new medical facilities at Princess Anne (near the Amphitheater and Farmer's Market). Her phone number is ###-###-####. Dr. Lexier is very willing to listen and answer all questions. She doesn't make you feel rushed. She's awesome, her nurse and other staff members are great, and the facility is new and up to date (they even separarte sick children from well ones). I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Lexier and her staff. I met her in the hospital and have loved her ever since. Best of luck!
If your willing to drive a little, I recommend Chesapeake Pediatrics. I have taken my kids to Dr. Cawthorn for 9 years. They have a lactation consultant on staff & they have never, ever suggested I use formula. He has never questioned my extended nursing, cloth diapers, or always wearing my babies. He's the best!
I take my daughter to Dr. Carol Downing at pediatrics of Kempsville. She is great. Good with my daughter (who is two). I breastfed for 5 months before figuring out my daughter was allergic to my milk, and this was before I moved here, but Dr. Downing is great in every other way. I can't imagine her pushing something on me that I didn't agree with.
