L.,
Here is an email address for a friend of mine - she does AMAZING cakes - anytime we need a cake - Rita is the only person I consider getting a hold of.
Her name is Rita Gregory - her email is ____@____.com
If you don't hear from her e-mail me (my email is ____@____.com) and I will give you her cell phone number.
She lives in the Garland area and has done cakes for years.
Good luck with the cake.

I have a friend in Sachse who make awesome custom cakes. Cathey Pittsinger, ###-###-####
Check out cakes.com. You can search for a Cars cake kit and it will show you which bakeries carry it. I second the rec for Casa Linda - a cut above the grocery store and very affordable.
Cindy Anich makes the best cakes. She's a friend of mine and makes for a lot of folks. ###-###-####
Have a great day!
Dallas Affairs for non traditional, on Abrams and Casa Linda Bakery for traditional on Garland Road. Many of the Tom Thumb bakeries will do "character cakes" if they have been licensed to do so.
The bakery at Central Market (off Lovers Lane and Greenville Ave.) is AWESOME-- the can do cool cakes, or can do a really neat "cupcake cake"-- they're very cool, and easy to serve, and the kids love them! That's where we go for ALL of our desserts, not just cakes....
My friend swears by Kroger's bakery....
