Looking for a good indian restaurant (mostly go for southern indian - ie vegetarian - but open to any) within about 30 mins of natick. What have you tried and liked?

Punjabi Grill on Rt. 9 in Framingham (across from Temple Street) is by far one of the best Indian restaurants, I think (and I'm of Indian descent :)). The chef catered our wedding and the food is absolutely delicious.
Gold Star, also in Framingham, in the complex where Filene's Basement used to be (between Rt. 30 and Rt. 9) is also amazing.

My first recommendation would be Masala Art in Needham- they have a wide variety of dishes (including southern indian), and a really fun atmosphere. I also really like Singh Cafe in Wellesley and Himalayan Bistro in West Roxbury.
Love love love Bollywood on rt9 west bound behind but next to Legal seafoods. Try it

My kids love the Saag Paneer. I always get Malai Kofta. Everything is delicious. : )
Rani on Beacon St. in Brookline is excellent.
