I'm looking for a jeweler in the Oak Park area I'm willing to travel a little bit farther to get what I want. I need someone who will fix a setting for me. And I want to buy a ring and have an engraving done on it. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

You have some really good recommendations, but I wanted to throw in one more. I had my wedding ring made at Jan Dee Jewelers in the city. They are located on Diversy right near Racine. I had sapphires from some earrings my parents had given me as a child, my husband took them to the jewelers, drew what he wanted for me and they made my engagement ring. They then designed and made a wedding band to complement it. When I got pregnant with my daughter, my hands swelled up ridiculously. I had to have my rings cut off my hand and I was devastated. I felt silly and fat (thanks pregnancy hormones). They ladies at Jan Dee were so helpful and reassuring. After my daughter was born they put my rings back together and they look better than ever.
Sappy story aside, they are wonderful professionals with an inventory that ranges from extremely affordable to insane luxury. They can design and make anything you want and they are wonderfully creative.
Good luck!

Hi,

You should check out Debra Harris. She's a private jeweler in the city who does beautiful work and is very reasonably priced. If you email her she can give you more information. And if you do, tell her a "First Tuesday" lady sent you!

Good luck!

We've done all our jewlery at Oak Park Jewlers - I don't know the address, but I'm sure you can google it. They're not always overly friendly, but always polite and their work is excellent. They back up all of their products. We purchased my wedding band there and it has a row of diamonds on top of it. After a year, two of the stones were loose. I took it in and they didn't even look up my file, they took my word that the ring had been purchased there and fixed it immediately free of charge. I had it back the next day.
