Hi mamas,

Looking for any leads on a real live longhorn for family holiday picture. I live in the Cedar Park area. Does anyone know of any around that are setup for this type of thing? I have run across a few randomly by the side of the road that offer to take your picture for a fee. But as usual, when I need one, I can find one. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Mnay times they will have one set up on the corner of 35 and Riverside where you can even sit on it. It's been a while since I've been down there but I know they used to do it all the time. There are some longhorns in the field on the corner of Mopac and Wells Branch but not sure if you would be able to get in and take pictures. You may be able to do a search on Austin360 about upcoming events.
Good Luck

I'm not sure if you can get to them, what with a wire fence and all, but the LBJ Ranch has longhorns. It's in Johnson City, a nice little drive on a pretty fall day.

Call Luther's Dog Grooming place on Greenlawn Parkway here in Austin. The place is south of Anderson Lane just off of Burnet Road. Luther used to allow kids to get on his longhorn and parents could take pictures of them. It is worth a shot. If he no longer has the longhorn, he might be able to give you some suggestions. I also wonder if you could contact UT's Texas Cowboys, for aren't they in charge of BEVO at the UT games?

Call Mr. H. C. Carter, who has a ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas which is only nineteen miles from Austin. He probably has an Austin home phone as well.

My family, the Neighbors, had a ranch next door to him.

You can give the Dr. Neighbors family as a reference.
