Looking for Dance Studio in Mansfield or South Arlington

My 16 year old daughter would like to find a dance studio to take jazz class during the coming school year. She's been at CATS for the past several years, but we've moved and would like to find one closer to home.

Does anyone have one to recommend that focuses on fun and fitness, without dance competitions? She's afraid of joining a class full of girls who might be competitive and more serious than she is.

What can I do next?

Hello Diane,

I'm actually on my way now to the dance studio I work with. The name of it is Step By Step Dance Studio (www.stepbystepdance.org). We're located on South Collins, between Timerview Rd and Arkansas. We currently are preparing to start our Summer Session of classes; you can find our Summer schedule and registration form on the website. In addition, you can see information regarding our dance classes there as well. Fall 2008 information will be posted in August. Since 1985, Step By Step has always had a focus on dance technique and the enjoyment of dance itself, while keeping a Christian and uplifting environment.

See if http://kingdomdancekids.com has classes for that age group. They teach classes at various locations, including Arlington. I was very impressed with the teacher and the program they put together for preschool-grade school children. The recital was optional.

I found the most wonderful dance studio. It is The Dance Company in Arlington at the corner of Park Row and Bowen in the Tom Thumb shopping center. My daughter Alicia has been dancing for 7 years. This is by far the best studio we have found. Although they do have a competition team all of their classes focus on technique. Not everyone is on the team. It is a family atmosphere were your child is made to feel special. All of the kids welcome and support one another. The teachers are amazing. They will even let you try the studio for a month so you can figure out what classes you want to take. I know you would love this studio.
