Looking for Pediatrician in Plano, TX

I'm looking for a pediatrician in Plano. I'm also looking for a reliable day care or home care that's affordable and won't eat a whole paycheck (good luck, right?). I'm weary of day care centers due to the last few years of horror stories in the media so I need peace of mind. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

For the Pediatricican Dr Hidalgo is AWESOME he is off of Parker and Communications close to Plano Presbeytarian. I used to babysit his kids when I was 14 yrs old and both of my kids are patients of his and have been for 15 yrs.
As far as day cares. Honesty the good ones are the ones that are a little pricey. The ones that are not pricey are not that good.
St Marks Child development is great, they have monitors in each room, that the director is contantly viewing. If interested i can give you details on both.

You should check online with the Texas Department of Family Services at www.dfps.state.tx.us ... click on the link for Child Care Providers and they will have a listing of all providers in your area when you put in your zip code. This will give you all the information about each provider and the benefit for parents is anyone listed with the state already had to go through a background check, are CPR and First Aid certified, and are held accountable to a higher standard. Do question the providers about any reports they may have had and remind yourself that not all providers who have been reported for an offense did anything to deserve them. I am a provider and was reported by a parent after she failed to pay three weeks worth of childcare and I pursued her legally to recover my money and so she retaliated by reporting me to my rep. I was inspected and my kids were questioned about the matter and the allegations were proven unfounded. I would question repeated reports if they occur over a short period of time and always come prepared with a list of issues when you interview with each provider. Hopefully that should help with your search! :)

I've heard good things about First Baptist Plano (on 15th Street between Jupiter and K Avenue). Friends have been happy with it.

I too am looking for a new pediatrician in Plano, so if you find a good one, let me know.

Regarding daycares, my advice would be to go with your gut. Visit each one, take a tour and talk with the Director. If you get an uneasy feeling at all-move on to the next one.

Use Mamasource to ask others if they had good or bad experiences on one or two when you've narrowed down your search.

Once you put your child in, visit several times unannounced until you feel comfortable that your baby is safe and well cared for.

There are lots of good daycares out there despite what you might see on TV.

Good luck,

K.

Hi C.,
I am not sure where you are delivering but I had my son at Med Ctr Plano and his pediatrician is Dr. Peter Sherrod. Dr. Sherrod's office is in the same parking lot as the hospital - which might not take you long to get to if you took George Bush. Anyway, he is absolutely wonderful! His nursing staff is a mature group that have been with him a long time - and I think that says something. Dr. Sherrod himself uses a common sense approach which I appreciate and has a patient and wonderful bedside manner. We have a 16 year old and a 20 month old and have since moved to north Frisco but I still make the drive because I would never move my kids to another pediatrician. He was also once Chief of Staff at the hospital and is very active in the medical community. His number is ###-###-####. Good luck to you!

For daycare, my son goes to First United Methodist Church at the corner of Spring Creek and Parker. They are NAEYC accredited and are great!

I live very close to you (I am in Stoney Hollow - Los Rios & Parker). I recommend Dr. Norman Minsky for a pediatrician and The Primrose School of Breckinridge Park for childcare. E-mail me for more specific information and the contact numbers for each.

Good Morning,

I can offer you great childcare in my in-home daycare. I'm located in Wylie at Parker and McCreary.

We have tons of toddler toys and age appropriate toys for kids of all ages.(play kitchen, backyard swing set, dolls, blocks, books etc). also, a huge backyard for outdoor fun on sunny days.
I offer healthy meals, snacks, and drinks.
I open Mon-Fri from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
I charge $150 for infants but I'm willing to work with you depending on your situation and what type of childcare you need (part-time, full-time etc).

We have a low ratio so my daycare kids will always have one-on-one attention.
Anyways, please  feel free to come and see the enviroment for yourself. We have a pet-free and smoke-free home.
You are more than welcome to e-mail me with any questions you might have,
