We just recently moved to Bridgewater and my children are begging me to play at a playground. Does anyone have any good suggestions on where to go? I have a 1 1/2 year old, a 3 year old and a 7 year old.

What can I do next?

Once it gets warmer.. try going to the Watchung Reservation.. once there follow signs for the loop. It's an awesome play area... with climb on things and lots of slides and tire swings. It's great to pack a picnic lunch.. and within walking distance is a little place on the property too.. that is a museum with stuffed animals.. and then live fish, snakes, bees... and a whole lot of cool stuff. Because you have young children.. you should check out the Crayola Factory - it's in PA.. not to far.. maybe a 45 minute ride... has all kind of things to do with kids.. and it's fun. good luck.. and welcome to New Jersey..

Welcome to New Jersey. There is a small but nice little playground adjacent to the park in the center Peapack, NJ-not far from you at all. The zip code for Peapack is 07977 if you want to get driving directions from your home. Jungle gym, swings-not big but nice and on a sunny day there might be some Moms there. Comes complete with a pond and a swan that is often there. The Coco Luxe is a nice little pastry and coffee shop in the center of town, within walking distance of the park as well.

You might also look at the Clarence Dillon Library website (Bedminster) corner of RT. 206 & Lamington Road-they used to have a nice children's story hour. Best of luck to you!

There is a great playground next to the municipal building on Garretson called Kidstreet. They are still doing construction on the municipal building so I don't know if it is officially open yet. You could probably check out the town website for more info. Welcome to bridgewater and good luck!! It's a great place to live! :)

Hi C.,

Check out http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/. You can search NJ Parks by location and activity. When we moved here 12 years ago, our kids were small and we also used a hiking guide to get the low down on the best parks for walking with kids. Ours is old, but you can find new ones like this on Amazon: New Jersey (Best Hikes With Children) by Arline Zatz. I know you wanted playgrounds, but our kids would hike and climb and explore for hours, but only play on a playground for about 20 minutes. Plus it was great for us to get the exercise in a fun way. (Wear hats, higher socks and check for ticks. We never had any problems.) Enjoy - so many beautiful places to see!
