Our Hoover Upright just went kaput! We are now looking for a new vacuum and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. We have mostly hardwood floors, tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, 2 area rugs, and one carpeted room. We also have two dogs and two cats so we need something good for picking up animal hair. Suggestions and prices would be wonderful!

What can I do next?

I have a dyson animal (the purple one) and I love it. It has an attachment for pet hair that can get into corners well. It is a bit pricy $4-500 but it works great on carpet and hardwood and has good attachments. Good luck!

When you go and look for a vacuum before buying it check what it needs and how much it is for a filter, bag, belt or any other accesories you need to replace. We just bought a vacuum a month ago and I bought mine at Kohl's on sale(why pay full price) and spent $130. on a $250 vacuum that was sale no other coupons.

We have the Dyson which was about $400. We've had it for about 2 years and I love it. We don't have pets, but we do have hardwood floors and carpet and it's picked up great on both surfaces.

Hi K.,
I am also a Developmental Therapist, working in Lake and McHenry Counties. What do you think about the billing changes?
In response to your question.....
I have wood floors, some carpeting, two cats, a rabbit and a 14 month old. My in-laws bought me a shark upright sweeper which is great to zoom around on a daily basis. It recharges itself and is cordless. You just pull out the container and dump it. It also cleans carpet, but not super deeply. It costs around $50.00 or so.
