I did the Master Cleanse AKA The Lemonade Diet last year. I absolutely loved it. I felt great. The first few days were tough, but after day 3 it was no problem. You have to get your mind set on it and make sure your schedule is clear of lunch dates etc... I work in a restaurant so I am always around food, but again it was all in your head. I had a ton of energy, worked out and would do it again. Make sure you follow exactly how to do it or you can get very ill in the first 2 days. I preferred the laxative tea over the salt mixture in the mornings. I did the salt mixture on the first 2 days then went to the tea the reast of the time. Good Luck. K.

I was on the master cleanse in November just before the holiday. My first time on any fast.
Read the whole book, really plan ahead, have all the supplies!
Do the "salt water flush" each morning, you will eliminate a lot of junk. It's awful to drink, I had to trick myself into believing it was broth. It always took a half hour to fortyfive minutes to get down, make sure you are near a toilet for the next hour. This is important!!!
Drink the lemonade/maple syrup/cheyanne as often as you need. You will not feel hungry if you drink at least 8 serving a day.
I had a head ache on day threee that lasted until day six, I wanted to die, but support is the key, my friend helped put things into perspective. I was depriving my body of caffine, sugar, and calories that I had become addicted to.
By the seventh day my energy levels dipped and stayed down until I completed the cleanse.
This is a great tool to jump start many functions in your body. A cleanse feels great in the end, but you must have some support and real determination to complete the ten day cleanse.
I lost some weight about 15 pounds a lot of belly and thigh inches. Just to let you know, I was away from my home for 15 days, no husband to care for or house to keep. I had my 5 month old daughter to care for while house sitting. (I was no longer breast feeding) To be honest I could not have gone through the cleanse at home, there are to many stresses here including a home business.
I wish you the best, this could be a real challenge, find someone who will do it with you, don't try to do to much during your cleanse. I did not have the same physical or mental capacity to tollerate any extra stress while on the cleanse.
I hope this was helpful and encouraging. Here's to your health!

I have not tried the master cleanse but I have tried something called oxypowder. It is a totally safe body cleanse that does not use harmful herbs and is non addictive. I have been using it for about 9 months and have had less headaches, more energy and have lost about 20 lbs. I did tons of research online regarding body cleansing and found this one to be the best out there. The website is oxypowder.com You should go on there and read about it and read the testimonials. It is a great supplement. Hope this helps. S.

I've done the master cleanse twice and am planning to do it again just before Easter. Here are some tips that I have been told by others who have done it and from my own experience.
-Get the book and read it thoroughly. It's really short and it helps you better prepare for the cleanse.
-Do not substitute or deviate from the process or the recipe in any way. You just won't get the right results.
-This one is pretty gross so brace yourself. When you do the salt water flush (and you need to do this every morning of the cleanse), you need to do it early enough in the morning so that it doesn't interupt your morning routine. For example, if you need to take the kids to school by 8 and you normally wake up at 7 to get ready, I would recommend getting up at 5:00. This is because it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for the flush to kick in. You MUST be close to a toilet when it does. You will feel an INCREDIBLE URGE to go and there won't be enough time to stop the car and find a bathroom. For this reason, I would start the cleanse on Friday night, so you know what to expect for a couple of days before going to work on Monday.
-You may experience strange reactions like headaches, or rashes, or runny nose. This is your body 'detoxing' and it will go away. This is why a lot of people quit before they are done. Just power through it, drink more water or lemonade and try to nap if you can.
-You will lose about 10 lbs, but eventually gain back 5. I've managed to keep 10 lbs off total since doing both cleanses. And this is for the past 2 years.

Hope this helps! You can email me directly if you have more questions. Good luck!

Hey!!
I know all about the Master Cleanse. It is a safe and nice cleanse.
Question: Why are you doing the cleanse? To lose weight or abolish toxins?

wt loss: I would only do it for one day once a week. Since you have three kids, if you were to do anymore than one day, you can start detoxicing and become really weak and stress your immune system. We were meant to be hunters and gatherers. Not processed food couch sitters. Our bodies work better when we have less food.

toxins: Prepare your family's meals ahead of time so you don't have to cook. I would advise you to do the "cleanse and purify thyself" by Arise and Shine. Richard ANderson is a genious...I apprentised under him while I was fresh out of Naturopathic college. Somebody alreday wrote and told you about slow cleansing. They are right. When the toxins are released fast, you can get really sick for a while. Also emotional swings can overwhelm you. Best to cleanse slowly, with a type of nuturing cleanse, such as Arise and Shine's.

Also, a tip...the apple cider mixture is a powerful gland cleanser. It is excellent to mix up and drink, if you feel like you are coming down with a cold. I use it in my practice for mastitas. I have my moms make up a batch, go to bed, and sip it all day. The little red spot and sorness is gone when they wake up the next morning.

Good Luck

I did it last year & lasted 4 days. Around day 2 it brought on this CRAZY migraine. It lasted through when I finally quit on day 4. The migraine finally went away, but for the next two months they came back on and off. It felt as if some migraine gateway was opened in my head & they were back (I had them a couple years before related to the birth control pill...went away when I went off). I'm pretty much back to normal now & some people say if I could have just stuck it out then maybe my migraines would have gone away for good.....but it was unbearable.

I did this twice, the first time for the 10 days, and a year later I did it for 7 days. I was amazed that I never felt hungry and that I was actually able to do it. In talking to many people about this, I've found that most have different reactions. I can only speak to mine, and I didn't have any real problems with it. I did feel sick on the 5th day of my first time around. I was pretty much out for the day, and found it best to just sleep it off. For this reason, I always tell friends to time it so that day 4 or 5 of the cleanse is on a Saturday so you have parental back up with the kids if you need it. I think I got sick because I wasn't drinking enough water in addition to my "lemonade". My second time around I never got sick. The person who introduced me to the cleanse warned me about the salt water wash and with three kids and school drop off, I opted out of that portion and just did the "smooth move" tea morning and night. I lost about 10 pounds and gained 3 back eventually. The best part for me was that I found myself eating much healthier after the cleanse. I assumed once I finished I would be ordering a large cheese pizza to eat by myself or go out to my favorite restaurant, but afterwards I just didn't have the desire to do that. For a few months after in fact, I stayed away from all "junk food" and made much better choices.

I have done several colon cleanses in the past and the best cleanse is a cleanse that you can continue for about 2-4 weeks, once or twice a year. I do not believe in the short 7 day cleanses, the detox is very harsh on the body. Listen to your body and if in the begining you need to do it only once a day, then move to twice a day, that is good. I would get really bad headaches in the begining, but they went away after 2 days, it is part of flushing the toxins out of the body quickly. Everyone experiences different cleansing symptoms.
Best of luck, they really work. I am nursing and pregnat and have not done a cleanse in the last 3 years and they really make me feel light and healthy and clean, its amazing how good you can feel after a cleanse.

i there!
yes I have just done the master cleanse about 2 weeks ago. I went for 5 days.
I am glad to share my feelings on it.

it is really not a fast. since every time you feel hungry, you can sip this lemon/maple syrup/ cayenne pepper liquid. That stuff drinks like a meal. Hunger goes away instantly.
so thats the easy part.

it was amazing how habitual my relationship with food is. I stuff small bites into my face all day long! it was quite interesting to resist that. a few times I caught myself chewing a chunk of bread from my daughters plate - if that happenes to you go and spit it out! (lol)

the salt water flush - make sure you use himalayan rock salt. DO NOT USE refined salts. they are pure poison to your body. Most sea salts are also refined. the saline solution is: 1 liter spring or filtered water and 2 teaspoons of salt. if you do not experience the flush ( spreak: diarreha ) use 2.5 teaspoons the next day.

I skipped the sienna tea, since it will give you cramps and a permanent liquid stool situation. if you have kid and must go pick them up at school (for example ) you can't have that happen :)

do your saltwater flush in the evening, you need to set aside 3 hours or so ( one to drink the saline solution, one to have it gurgle in your body and one to sit on the toilet.) I started at 8:30 after the kids went to bed. instead in the morning.

make your saltwater solution hot and pretend it is chicken soup. I actually learned to like it! I was looking forward to having something salty instead of the sweet and sticky lemonade all day!!

I stopped after 5 days since I woke up that morning and felt very hungry and annoyed. So I decided it was time to eat again. I did not loose any weight, but my eating habits have changed for the better and my skin is GREAT! I will definitely do this cleanse again. It would help if my children were bigger. I had hoped it would be a more spiritual but it was cleansing never the less.

:)

email me if you like!

-C.

I would recommend reading the book on it. depends on whether your goal is weight loss or cleanse. Would not recommend it if you are breastfeeding

I've done the Isagenix cleanse in the past with great success, as has my husband and a lot of our family. We love it! I lost something like 14 lbs on the 9 day cleanse and my husband lost 9 or 10. The nice thing about it is if you are hungry, they don't say don't eat--just eat sensible like an organic apple or organic mixed greens with oil/vinegar. There is a 9 day for faster results (which is mentally tough) or there is a 30 day cleanse that is more flexible with food plans. I know people who've done both and now swear by the program. I just wouldn't touch any cleanse if nursing.

Try Isagenix cleanse, it is much gentler on your body. Email Minday at find la dot com or bunni lite at yahoo dot com and she will take you through the program. I know a few people who are doing it and really liking their results.
