My family and I are moving to McKinney in August. I wanted to see if anyone had feedback on the following pre-schools. My children are ages 3 1/2 and 22 months. Listed below are the schools we're considering and we welcome any other school suggestions. Oh, and we are looking for 5 days a week programs.

Schools: Children's Lighthouse (El Dorado), Ivy Glen School of Stoneridge, Heritage Learning Center, Kids R Kids (El Dorado)

Thank you in advance for your help.

J.,

My son attended The Primrose School of Breckinridge Park in Richardson and my nephew attended The Primrose School of Eldorado in McKinney.

Both of our families were very pleased with the Primrose curriculum (which happens to be one of the best in the area).

Additionally, we found that the teachers were more qualified than those at other area schools.

Both of our boys have moved on to public elementary schools now and both are well ahead of their clasmates in Reading and Math. We attribute much of their successes to the quality preschool education they received at Primrose.

The telephone number to the Eldorado school is ###-###-####. Visit their website at www.primroseschools.com for more info.

I hope this helps you!

My little girl (5 months) attends Childrens Lighthouse on ElDorado and has for about a month now. I really like the Lighthouse, and I am a VERY picky mother. Anytime that I have had issues with them (never anything major, just the little things that I am weird about as a new mother) they have corrected very quickly! In addition all of my daughters teachers really communicate with each other well, which is very important. Plus I love that they have the cameras available on their website.

I have not heard anything good about Kids R Kids, and I was not at all impressed with their facility. I think my husband and I also went to tour Heritage Learning Center, and if I am right they were owned by Kids R Kids and when KRK got such a bad name they changed theirs. It has the exact same lay out as KRK does, again was not real impressed. (If that is the same place we went to)

If you have any questions about The Lighthouse I would be happy to help, or if you would like to see the cameras in the room I can let you borrow my password. I know how stressful it can be finding the right daycare, not to mention a new move. Yuck! You will love Mckinney (____@____.com)

We had a horrible experience at Children's Lighthouse. For the first year of my daughter's life everything was fine, but then a bunch of teachers quit and they got a new director and everything changed. I complained & nothing happened so we pulled her out. I sent a nasty letter to the corporate office too, but to my knowledge they never did anything.

Hi J.!
Just my opinion but I have not heard anything but negative about Children's Lighthouse. I haven't heard anything at all about Ivy Glen. I have heard wonderful things about Heritage Learning Center and not much about Kids R Kids. I wish you luck on your search - I have worked in management in preschools and the best advice I can give you is to visit each school at least twice, at different times. If you feel like you are being weird, or they think you are a freak parent, don't! Trust me, they have seen much worse! And for good reason! I too have a 3 1/2 year old and know that it is the most important decision you will make. Take your time deciding and definitely visit several times and ask a ton of questions. Also, go with your instincts - mom's usually have a feeling for these things.
Good luck and welcome to McKinney!!

Welcome - almost - to McKinney! Our twins didn't go to any of those, but they did go to Crossing Point Christian off Virginia/75 and they went all 5 days. We put them in the MWF and TTh programs and they did great! One year we had the same teachers each day and the last year when they were 3, they had two different teachers, but did awesome!

Here is their website link - call Debbie, she does check v/m and e-mail daily: http://www.goodnewsfcc.org/crossing_point.htm

Hi J.! My son goes to Faith Christian Academy. http://www.ffchurch.com/fca/ I will actually be working there part time next year! It is a wonderful place. From 2 years up the children learn sign language, spanish, and reading. They have a spring show which is so much fun! As a side note, the tuition is by far the cheapest in town. You can go to the website or call ###-###-####for details. Ask for Toni and tell her that N. told you to give her a call! You will love it there!

Good Luck!
