I pay $175/wk for in home daycare in Carrollton. That's average. it's hard to find a place who will let you do part-time. beware, you normally get what you pay for...
I am proud mama of a 4month old and 17yr old, he'll be 18 in Nov. I didn't have to do daycare with my first so this is all new to me. I've been checkin on a few and WOW...the prices are outrageous!!! Any ideas for a great daycare that doesn't cost all of your paycheck?? I only need a couple days a week. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hey M.!
If you are looking for a daycare center you might want to look at Heritage Learning Center in McKinney. A lot of the parents of the kids I watch will bring their kiddos there when they are 4 to get ready for preschool. I've heard the best things about this one. A friend of mine knows the owner and they are supposed to be one of the best. A lot of teachers in the area have their kids there. They have a wait list usually so get on it now if you are considering them. I looked at Primose in McKinney when my kids where little and I was going to school and wasn't real impressed with it. Very cramped and I didn't get any warm fuzzies with any of the teachers. It was just kind of a zoo when I went. It was a long time ago so it may have changed. Infant care is going to be more expensive, maybe closer to 200. I don't know if they offer part time or not. Another option might be an inhome daycare. I don't usually take kids until they are one unless I have their siblings and I am full right now but I can give you the name and numbers of some people in the area if you are interested. They may be more willing to work out something with you. I've just had two calls within the past week of two caregivers with spots to fill. You can email directly if you would like their names. ____@____.com I also have a website address at www.kidsinbloom.blogspot.com I have a list on there of people in the area who are registered in home daycares. A church MDO program might be another option for you. They tend to be a little cheaper and more flexible. Good luck! A.
I'm not sure where you are at, and it depends on the area is the cost. I'm in the colony. I run a inhome child care and only charge $150 full time for under 3, and $125 for over 3 till they are in school. I'm at the low end around here for the providers who have similar qualifications.
Hey M.,
I totally understand! I'm an escrow officer for Fidelity National Title in Plano so our hours are very similar, and my 3 year old son goes to Primrose in Mckinney off of Eldorado. He goes 5 days a week, but there are some kids in his class that only go 3 days a week. I pay $190/week so I'm sure it's less expensive for only 3 days. I don't, however, know how much it is for infants, but you should check them out! They are WONDERFUL!!! And they're not a daycare, they're a private pre-school. My son has learned soooo much, and really enjoys going to school. Even the infants and toddlers are always doing activities that help with their motor skills, singing, group activities, etc. We had tried a couple other places in Mckinney prior to Primrose- and they were awful, and they weren't much cheaper than Primrose. We're very happy with them. Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns. Hope this helps!
M.,
If your schedule is flexible, try a church preschool program. I love them! I am not sure where you live/work. But my kids attend Messiah's Lamb School at Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano and we love it. With the church preschools, you get a lot of what is offerred at the really expensive ones at lower cost. The teacher/child ratios are lower and most of the teachers have degrees. With it being a church environment, the caregivers are very loving towards your children. We live in Allen and have attended Discovery Days at First Baptist in Allen too. We liked it there too. Messiah's has extended care avaiable that was very important to us. Good luck! I have spent a lot of time searching and may be able to offer you more help. If you would like to chat directly - ____@____.com luck amd congratulations!
Have you looked into some of the MDO programs in your area. I know of 2 (Plano, McKinney) that offer before and after school care. Since you are only looking at part time, this may be a better option for you rather than a traditional daycare.
what area are u looking for?
