Who all has taken the mini pill and what were your experiences with it?
also ive read that you need a backup method for two days after taking it if you start it on the first day of your period (which i did, two days ago) so will i be able to just rely on the pill now since its been two days?

What can I do next?

I started taking it at my 6 week apt after my first. It caused severe depression and a bunch of health problems. Progesterone is a depressant. I was on it for about 7 months before I finally went off it to see if I got better. That's about when I learned it was a depressant. I did get better, it took a couple months for everything to get out of my system and go back to normal. I was breastfeeding so that's why I went on that one. I didn't go on it with my other 2 children and am so glad I didn't. I was so much better for it!

Other than getting pregnant after 13 months of it, it was great LOL. Seriously, it was fine until I took it in the afternoon instead of the morning for 2 days. My youngest child was conceived that weekend. So if you use it, use a backup birth control and be vigilant about taking it on time. Other than that, I had no issues with it - was able to breastfeed, etc.

I have been on it since I had my 6wk check up back in January. I haven't had a period yet and I haven't had any problems with it. I do breastfeed so that also helps with not having a period. I have heard from people that they got pregnant on it, well if you read the directions and talk to your provider they both clearly state or should state that it needs to be taken at the same time everyday. There is like a two hour window that is there but best if used at the same time everyday. So when I asked a few friends that got pregnant on it if they took it at the same time their answer was no, no one told me to. I take mine in the 8 o'clock hour every night as I go to bed.
Good luck ask lots of questions when picking BC. You don't want to end up with a uh oh! :)

I took the mini pill for 3 1/2 years until I became allergic to it. First of all, it drained my body of my B vitamins and caused me to have major dental problems. It also gave me a horrid yeast infection that still hasn't completely gone away 5 years later. It also caused my liver to get stressed. I used to have hallucinations too but that was part of me becoming allergic to it. Otherwise, I did fine...LOL

I've been on it while nursing after each of my children. We should have used a back-up at first but I don't think we did. We were more careful after our third so actually used protection before I went for my appointment and got my prescription and then used the back-up for 48 hours. I always follow the package information.

My experiences with it were fine. I do have my cell phone alarm set to go off at the same time every day so I won't miss/be late because it does not stay in your system. I plan to stay on it indefinitely as I had a lot of problems the last time I switched to the combination pill.

I backed it up for a month after starting per my OB, but I was on it successfully for 2.5 years before I switched because I was no longer nursing. When I had to change the time slightly, I took it an hour earlier every week til I got to the new time slot. Your mileage may vary but DD is still my only baby.

I took it after I had my first baby, while I was nursing. I had no problems with it.

I used it 3 times while nursing. No problems. I took it in the a.m. (within an hour - not to the minute or anything). I did pay close attention when I was getting ready to wean my kids, and once I was nursing less I used backup until they were weaned and we switched to a different pill.
