I work nights and now that the girls are back in school and i have time to myself for exactly 2 hours because the little one goes half day I feel like I spend more time wondering what to do with my time then utilizing it and by the time i get into something it's time to get her and i find time wasted. Anyone else have this problem? I feel like if i sleep i wasted time doing something without the kids underfoot and that I can't start a cleaning project because two hours go by fast...what to do?

What can I do next?

Two hours is just enough time for a movie!

Well start your cleaning project, and finish the rest the next day. Let yourself have one or two days a week to do what you want. You will clean faster on the other days, just so you can have your time to yourself on the other days.

I put my 3 year old in a 4 hour preschool for this reason. You can't do anything in 2 hours.

In 2 hours time I can clean my bathroom, do dishes, run the vacuum and dust -- it can all get done in 2 hours.
You can also toss a load of laundry in the wash, and in the dryer and fold the load that was in the dryer from the day before.
I can cut my lawn in an hour.
If you streamline your procedures you can get a lot done in 2 hours.

I have 4 children... All under 6...
My two girls ages 5 ( soon to be 6 next month)... And my 4 y/o are both school aged and I run into the same problem... But I don't work!
It's still pretty chaotic in my household. Because of the different school times ontop of my other 2... That are 2 y/o and 5 months old. What I find that works very well for me is getting a dry erase board and plan out your day...( from beginning to end).By the end of the week its wayyyyy easier!
And you'll see how much time you really have if you setup an easy to follow
Schedule.

I really wish I had 2 hours to myself a day. That would be amazing!

Before you go to work one day, set 1-2 realistic goals for the following day. It will feel good to cross things off your list even if it's just one thing.

LOL....welcome to the world of SAHM's right? I feel the same way. In my case I just think I feel this way because I sometimes don't know what to do if I'm not busy being a mom and doing something for the kids, or dogs, or husband. I get all worked up that I have some time to myself and then don't know what to do, and by the time I figure it out, my time is over...LOL. I feel like Ms. Pacman, when Inky, Blinky,Pinky and Clyde disappear down the screen......."GAME OVER". When I do finally relax enough I go out for a walk with the dogs and sit in the park. I go to a movie. I curl up with a good book and a cup of coffee. If I do sleep, yeah I feel bad, but I write it off to my body needing it, therefore it was called for. Start by just letting go. Have fun!
