Hahaha.. Haen't heard of those since I was a kid. I got mine at 8 for my birthday and LOVED them. I would suggest them. After about 3 years mine finally wore out. My best friend and I both had them and played with them all the time.
What are your experiences and opinions with kids and Moon Shoes - you know you strap your feet in and bounce. I have two kids with birthdays coming up and they look like fun, but are they too dangerous? Do they bounce very high or is it more just like springy walking? Kids are going to be 7 and 9.
Thanks,
**Also, if you like or dislike please give age of your kid - I've heard they bounce better with an heavier/older kids. Is that true?

Okay, I had moon shoes when I was a kid... they're awful. Not fun at all. Seriously, spend the money on something else! Are these for your own children? Spend a little more on a trampoline or some pogo sticks ;)
my son wanted these a few years back - and I felt the same as you do - plus I felt they were waaaay too expensive for what they were. Luckily we ended up finding some at a garage sale - what a waste of money. haha even at a garage sale. They are very bulky and hard to walk in (duh) and don't go very high. I'd say springy walking is more like it. I wouldn't pay full price for them that's for sure. ps, it wasn't long till we sold them at our garage sale too
My one son wanted them way back when. He was still in grade school. I got them for him, he used them barely only a couple times. I don't think HE felt safe and secure in them. I don;t think they ARE safe or secure. He found out for himself. They're no fun if you have to wear them outside instead of inside where it's carpeted.
Waste of money, really.
my daughter got them a couple of years ago for christmas. she likes them. they do look waaaaayyy cooler on the commercials though :) she gets bouncing pretty good in them...and yes they are hard to walk in (but you are not supposed to really "walk" in them) - she still plays with them occasionally. i'd say go for it.
I havent seen those, but I see a lot of kids with the shoes that have some wheels in them, that they can pop out somehow & suddenly start skating in.. not sure how they work, but they are very popular. They look like fun.
I agree with Jane.. Waste of money. Someone gave a pair to our daughter, she was so excited, but what a let down..
They were not nearly as bouncy as she hoped.. We kept thinking they needed to be broken in, but never did get any better.. sold them in a garage sale.. I wonder if Jane purchased them from us???
Have you seen "the Twizzler?" It is like a spinning handle bar you hang from a tree.. The kids would spend hours spinning on that thing..
Older kids do better with them, yes. Part of it is a matter of coordination, part of it is a matter of the extra weight. Our kids enjoy them sometimes(although they felt that moon shoes should be more like anti-gravity shoes), but I personally can't stand them.
They are hard to store (because they are rather unwieldy); they come with a blue million industrial sized rubber bands that you have to string into the shoes. This is what causes the bounce. The problem is that you have to keep up with the extras if you plan on keeping the shoes for any amount of time. Hypothetically, they give you more so they can be added to the shoes when your kids get heavier. In reality, they are used to replace the rubber bands that break on a regular basis (as well as being used to improvise sling shots and/or shoot one's siblings--or children--with). Even if you try to keep them stored neatly, if your children are like mine, you will STILL end up with rubber bands everywhere, and you will get to the point where you just starting chunking them in the trash because they seem to reproduce and you are sick of seeing them.
Oh, and as a final parting gripe about the darn things... if you have younger kids or uncoordinated kids, expect skinned knees and hands among other injuries unless they are willing to get into knee and elbow pads, bicycle helmet, etc.. Or save yourself the trouble, and buy something that is actually enjoyable and worth the trouble.
