I was just at a wedding and they used "when you need me" by Bruce Springsteen. I had never heard that song.... it doesnt even really sound like him, so take a listen. It was very, very touching.
Does anyone know any good songs for my son and I to dance to at his Bar Mitzvah

I can't think of any right now, I'm in tears remembering my own with my son. wwwwaaaaaaa
this is the song we used for the mother son dance at my sons wedding. not quite the same I know but this song is beautiful and it might work for you.
At my son's bar mitzvah, we got a lot of recommendations from the DJ who has been to a lot more events than we had! The DJ will have traditional tunes as well as current ones. The only problem with "Sunrise Sunset" is that it's a waltz, and a lot of kids don't know how to dance to counts of 3!
I used to sing Have I Told You Lately by Rod Stewart to my son when he was younger. When the time comes for the mother son dance at his wedding, I hope he picks that one.
Measure of a Man by Elton John . . . listen to it first though. It came from one of the Rocky movies and may or may not be appropriate for the setting you describe.
I also love My Wish by Rascal Flatts. <3
Also, Forever Young by Rod Stewart.
I am not Jewish but I love music. I don't know if any of these are appropriate but I love these and have suggested them for weddings for the mother son dance:
What a wonderful world - Louis Armstrong or Rod Stewart
Sunrise sunset - Fiddler on the Roof
I Hope You'll Dance - lots of artists have done this song
Mama's Song - Boys II men
You are the Sunshine of my Life - Stevie wonder
Bridge over troubled water - Simon and Garfunkle
Hope that helps a little!
Blessings!
