So not a dry eye in the house here...The good bye show for Meredith Vieira was just so great! Did you tear thrugh the whole thing if you watched it? I have been a viewer of the Today Show for years and when Katie left I was sad. Meredith took over and she owned her spot. I am gonna miss her!
What are your thoughts??She will not be easily replaced!
P.s. Still feeling gross. The kids are bouncing back though...Literally.
You can watch the highlights from the goodbye show on Newser.com...Or I am sure you can watch it on NBC.com...It was very heart felt and just really sentimental.

Aww, like Denise I was devastated when Katie Couric left. Took me a long time to warm up to Meredith. But now I'll miss her too! Maybe Katie will come back?!

I loved Katie Couric too. I didn't care for Meredith when she began but I grew to love her too! I didn't see the goodbye show.
I've been watching the Today Show since the 1970s when Jane Pauley and Tom Brokaw hosted it. I never did like Katie much, but thought Meredith was funny from the start, which was a surprise. When school's out I don't turn on the tv to watch it. I'm bummed I missed her last show!
I liked Meredith when she was on The View, but when she went to Today, I never watched her. I like Good Morning America and have watched it since it started. Everytime one of the main people leaves it is hard and you hate to see them go. I have never really cared much for Katie Curic but havent really watched more than a couple things she was on. I miss Charlie Gibson on GMA. Dont miss Joan Lundon at all. I really like Robin Roberts and Sam Champion on GMA. I liked Diane Sawyer on GMA but dont care for her on the news now. I never cared much for Whoppie Goldberg in her movies, but have really become fond of her on The View. Never liked Star Jones and still cant stand her. Used to enjoy Rosie ODonnell but not very thrilled with her now. I think you get used to a certain voice and personality that clicks with you, and its hard to see them move on or leave. They become part of your family. Gosh how sad were we when Peter Jennings left and then died so soon.
Meredith Vieira didn't do much for me. She was fine, but she was no Katie Couric (just my personal taste). It probably has to do with the fact that I absolutely cannot STAND The View and didn't ever find it to be reputable whatsoever. It had that sleazy 'tabloid' feel to it and then when Meredith crossed over, it was hard to take her seriously.
On the other hand, I LOVE Ann Curry...as a news person. I am really hoping she can loosen up and become a jovial host because I enjoy her quite a bit. Natalie Morales would have been a great choice, too!
I cried too, I love Meredith. They did a great send off for her.
Between her and Oprah, TV made me cry a lot in the last few months. :)
