I have a four year old boy who obviously doesnt know how to hit the potty without getting it everywhere. Completely potty trained but he just wants to be done quickly so he can move on to the next thing. All of my bathrooms smell AWFUL. The one bathroom that has light tile, I can see where it is. That is where I clean in all the bathrooms. I mean I get walls, baseboards, allaround the toilet and of course the toilet. The smell is back within the day. I have tried bleach, pinesol, soft scrub, etc. Does anyone know of anything that works??? Thanks!!!!!

This is why my guys sit! I got tired of cleaning a nasty toilet (sometimes it seemed like my husband was the worst!) and they certainly wouldn't do it. So now they're required to sit. They still manage to make somewhat of a mess (how?) but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. As to the smell, have you tried vinegar? That's what we used to clean up around the toilets and the toilet itself. The only time the bathroom smells like a latrine is when the kids haven't taken care of the litter box properly so our picky fur ball pees on the bath mat.

I am proud to admit...I have a husband and two smaller "sitters." I would highly recommend training him to sit when in private bathroom, and stand in public...it makes a WORLD of difference! Also go with a pet product...they are meant to fix the smell associated with these types of issues.

Designate ONE bathroom for your boy. Put a bottle of spray cleaner and a roll of paper towels in that bathroom. TEACH him to wipe the toilet, around the toilet and any other place he sprays before he can resume what activity he was doing prior to using the facilities. I think in short time, he will be able to use any of the bathrooms in the house.

Blessings....

How about making him sit on the potty?

Or throw a few Cheerios in the toilet and let him target practice?

If he were older, I would keep a container of Chlorox wipes in the bathroom and expect him to wipe up after himself. This is what I had to do with DH and his 2 boys. They were already 9 and 10 at this time and all of them should have had better aim but seemed oblivious to the the "splatter" they were creating. I stuck the container on top of the back of the toilet with a note: "If you sprinkle when you tinkle, be a sweetie and wipe the seatie!" If you think he is more capable of this now, go for it!

Good question! I am having this very same problem with my 3 year old. Yuck! I use Clorox Clean-up, and it does a good job, but like you said, it seems like it smells again the next day. Boys!
