Friday Night Lights is great! And I loved Gossip Girl, not a family drama at all, but I binge watched one summer.
I just finished watching Gilmore Girls and am so sad I don't have a show to watch anymore on Netflix. Any suggestions? I tend to like family dramas like Gilmore Girls, Parenthood, etc. but am open to other genres. Thanks!!

I watch a show called Heartland with my daughter. It is filmed in Canada. It takes place on a ranch and the main character is a teen girl who is a 'horse whisperer' and heals horses. My daughter loves horses.
It's almost like a modern day LIttle House on the Prairie.
Based on family drama plus looking for something new, Charmed! I really enjoyed most if the shows below as well. I liked the British version of Being Human and I loved Orange is the New Black, but those are much more intense and "adult." I also started X Files recently because new episodes are coming out in a few months. Oh, Walking Dead is great too, falls into adult and intense as well :)
Going along with Hannah P.'s response... if you enjoyed Gilmore Girls, and recall the character ("Dean") played by Jared Padalecki, and liked him as an actor, you might enjoy Supernatural. J.P. stars in that show also.
(my teen daughter roped me into watching with her, and I must admit it's pretty addictive).
I also 2nd Sherlock. And if you haven't ever watched it, give Downton Abbey a shot. I absolutely LOVED that, and am not happy there will only be one more season.

Oh, and I almost forgot, b/c we watched it so fast and so many months ago now... but DareDevil. VERY good. We all enjoyed it. (husband, myself, teen son and teen daughter.) We are pretty good Marvel fans around here, but this was great.
Bloodlines starts slow but then gets really good. Netflix original show.
Have you watched Men of a Certain Age? Great show, though it only ran 2 seasons (I don't know if Netflix has it). How about The Fosters? Hmm, doesn't seem to be a lot out there nowadays in the family drama genre.
You will LOVE Parenthood and one of the main characters is Loralie from Gilmore Girls. In fact her character is similar in Parenthood. OOOPS Nevermind I see you already watched Parenthood. Sorry
We are watching breaking bad. We have watched battle star galactica. Hope that helps.
House of cards! Omg so good!
The 100 is my newest addiction. The 1st season is on Netflix now and the 2nd season is coming mid-October. I got my husband hooked on it too!
I also recommend Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul (coming in October), The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Melissa & Joey, and That 70s Show.
I have to 2nd Supernatural! Also, try In the Middle. I really like Scorpion because it has a family atmosphere with "unique" individuals. Also The Big Bang Theory is super funny. I really loved Gilmore Girls and I have yet to find a show that comes close to be so funny and fast at the same time. I do love Mike and Molly though, and it stars Sookie with her totally wackadoodle family!
Once Upon A Time is fantastic, rich character development and a huge, talented cast! There's quite a few seasons loaded on Netflix, & it's still ongoing, so more to come!
If you like British TV watch Sherlock. It's an absolutely amazing show, I watch it with my 12 year old daughter, although that wouldn't be recommended for some peoples kids because it can have graphic violence and there is a (if covered up) nude scene. If not, supernatural is a lovely show, and can keep you entertained for hours and hours (9 seasons on Netflix, soon to be more)
once upon a time, x files, walking dead, are the shows we are watching
An old one which only lasted half a season, however was great: Freaks and Geeks.
In the mystery genre, I enjoyed George Gently (British, detectives in the 1960s) and Inspector Murdoch (Canadian, Toronto forensics in the 1890s).
