Need Help for Green Pool!

Hi Moms, Well, we learned a lesson! In trying to cut back on the finances we decided to let the pool service go for a few months! It just started turning green last Monday but now it's completely green and getting greener by the minute. I have a feeling it's going to cost us now to get it back to normal. I called our old pool sevice on Monday when it was just turning green but they didn't show up until Friday when it was fully green and then just left a note by the pool to call the office. I left a message on Saturday and today but they have not called back. I can't let it go much longer! Does anyone use a pool service in the Gilbert (Gilbert RD/Warner Rd) area that I can call that won't cost us a fortune? Thanks moms!

So What Happened?

Thanks Moms! I'm lucky to have a wonderful man that is willing to do whatever needs to be done for his family! He went to the pool store, bought $60 worth of stuff and went and worked wonders on our pool. He said by the time I get home it will probably at least look normal. Once the green is gone, he's going to take a sample in and see what needs to be done to treat it and get it back to "normal" for swimming. Then we'll decide if we will hire a service or keep up with it ourselves. Thanks again moms for all the advice! Although I'm not looking forward to the heat, I'm looking forward to swimming again when it gets hotter!

You probably should take the water in to Paddock and have them test it. They will tell you what needs to be added to clean it up. Is your vacuum working?
If your vacuum is working you probably just need to add chemicals. You should be shocking it and it may need acid. Paddock does a free test. Put some water in a jar and take it they will print you out a report.
It probably needs to have the sides brushed and everything too,
Hope it goes well.

My husband and I have used multiple companies trying to find a trustworthy one...sad that it's so hard! We had one for our rental in Fountain Hills and one for our primary residence. I don't think I'm mixing the two up, but I was super happy with the guy at our primary residence! DLH Pools 703 East Vera Lane, Tempe, AZ 85284. ###-###-####. You can confirm that he worked on our house...I think he might remember...ask if he used to work on a house on Sterling (off Summit on Alma School) until the owners (us) decided to fill the pool in. Good luck!

go to Paddock Pools or one of the pool supply stores or pool stores and get a lot of shock and put it in according to the directions and then after it clears up get a sample of the water and then go back to the pool store and they will test the water and let you know how much acid and chlorine you need to get the Ph balanced along with the chlorine and acid levels. It isn't that hard to fix it yourself and much more inexpensive just a little time consuming. Don't wait any longer though if a child should fall in you would never see the child so don't take any chances. P.

F., It's fairly easy to get advice on pool care these days without a pool service. It's time to learn how to do it yourself. Any pool supply store has competant, knowledgeable staff that can give you the basic advice on the chemicals and products you need to keep your pool looking great. You can even bring in water samples and they will test it free of charge to let you know what needs to be done. Since your water is already green, you'll need to work fast on getting that done, but there's hope. We use Cactus Valley Pool Supply, but any one will do.

F.,

The best thing to do is to go and buy a few gallons of Bleach. Cheapest possible bleach they sell at the store and dump a few in depending on the color green of your pool and turn your pump on for a few hours to let it move around. This is a method of shocking your pool to restore the base or get the green out. You can also buy strips and test your pool water yourself. If you are in Gilbert there is a pool store off of Val Vista and Guadalupe that will sell the strips for testing your pool, but I think you can call the grocery store might even sell them. These will tell you what you need. Good Luck.

Our pool did this in our last house. We let our poor guy go and while searching for a new, reliable one our pool turned green. We were told you can't just shock the water, you have to drain some it (about half), shock it then fill it with fresh water. I don't know if that is 100% true but I just thought I'd share with you what we did.

Finding a good, HONEST, pool cleaning company is very hard. I don't know one but someone on this website I am sure does.

Best of luck.
