M. - anything out in that area of Liberty Road S should be fine. If possible, I would avoid N or NE areas of Salem. Also, access to I-5 is fairly close too.
I am trying to find housing in Salem, OR. What areas are safe and what areas should I stay away from. The clinic address is 3550 Liberty Road South 97302

The area around the clinic is a good neighborhood. The elementary schools nearby (Candalaria, Salem Heights, Faye Wright and Liberty)have good reputations. There are several apartment buildings on Liberty, and probably some rental homes in nearby neighborhoods as well. In general, the 97302 zip code that is west of 12th Street is safe. Many people like the area closer to downtown, around McKinley School, south High and Bush Park. South of Madrona, there are good areas east of 12th Street, too. Hope this helps.
I live in Salem and I would recommend staying away from NE and SE areas. They aren't all bad but trying to stay either South, West or Keizer is probably best if you don't know the area. Hope that helps.
I have lived in Salem my whole life, so I feel like I know it pretty well. I would say that the areas that are considered most desireable are in South Salem or West Salem. My guess would be to look for something in South Salem as that is closer to the address you posted.
Have you checked the Marion County sex offender website? I do not know the extact address but the website will tell you where the known offenders are. I have heard that North Salem area is a place to stay away from as is the area near 12th street south of Mcgilchrist. The trouble and scary thing is with all the prisons and jails, Salem can be just plain scary.
