I am looking into buying a new mattress and was thinking about a memory foam (10in). Anyone have any reviews or thoughts about those?

What can I do next?

We looked at all kinds of different ones and talked to all of our friends who have them. Surprisingly, the NovaFoam mattress from Costco (yes, the bed-in-a-box that costs $700 for the Cal King size) got a big thumbs-up from everyone we know who has one. We bought ours 3 years ago - LOVE IT! It's great - super comfortable, firm enough to stand up to my combative-sleeper husband (you know the type, he flails, he fights with the bed - yet I feel none of it over on my side of the bed), and soft enough for me (I'm like the Princess and the Pea, it's ridiculous). My husband runs hot and I run cold, and the bed feels fine temperature-wise to both of us.

If I were in the market for another mattress, I'd definitely consider another Nova Foam mattress. The price is right, very comfortable, and so far seems quite durable.

Too hot!!! I hit the bed and start sweating. We got ours about the time I started menopause and I have wished a thousand times that we had a regular mattress. I, too, love the comfort of it. I slept in a feather bed when I was little and loved it! But those feathers never made me sweat. I have had a ice pack by my feet when it was really bad.

Memory foam = HOT!!!!

If you tend to be cold you will be nice and snuggly warm but if you are close to menapause, pass on a mattress with memory foam. I remember waking up so hot I would throw off the covers and open the window in below zero weather.

I have a lot of back problems & decided I needed a memoryfoam mattress.

My husband did a lot of research & found that the Sam's Club ones were rated highly, even though they cost less than $1000. We splurged & got the one with a thick layer of cooling gel.

I never get hot (actually I used to have night sweats occasionally from my pillowtop mattress, none with the memory foam!), & after the first week or so, it stopped feeling so "cushy". I suspect a lot of people say it's too soft because they haven't slept on it continually.

My body is now able to sleep in alignment, whether I'm on my back or my side. I've stayed overnight @ a few hotels since we got the new mattress, & boy do I know the difference when I wake up!

I also went & got a contoured memory foam pillow (Serta brand, very affordable @ $20) and whenever I travel, it comes with me.

For those who don't have back/neck problems sleeping, great, go ahead & sleep on whatever you want. But for people like me who wake up aching & kinked, I will never go back, memory foam is just what I needed!!

Happy shopping! T.

I love mine, too. I haven't noticed mine being hotter than any other mattress that I've owned, but I'm wondering if a cotton/wool mattress topper might help.
