I am pregnant as well as have a toddler in my home. I am looking to take care of some spiders I have been seeing around, but I don't want any of that toxic spray! Anyone have any experience or thoughts as to something that my help with the spider problem? Thanks!

(this would be more of a preventative spray... not as much as an on contact spray)

What can I do next?

My Mom taught me to use hair spray to prevent them from running away and then smuck the sucker. Im petrified of them and if I can manage to get close enough to them I use hair spray and it works really well

Peppermint oil works, even on outside plastic toys.

Spiders are not insects, they are arachnids. Totally different species. So no bug spray will work on them, unless you get a direct hit and soak them in it. My neighbor swears by her spider vacuum. She's scared to death of the things and uses it all the time.

I know that spraying apple cider vinegar around windows and doors can prevents ants, but I don't know about spiders. I'd just vacuum them up, or spray with Windex til they fall, then smash them. Gosh that sounds horrible!

we use cinnamon. I sprinkle cinnamon in the tracks of the patio door where the spiders were coming in. We haven't seen spiders since. And there was a small hole where the baseboard meets the wall in our apartment and I stuck a cinnamon stick in it. Disclaimer: if you have pets, I don't know if it would be dangerous if a dog or cat licked the cinnamon. But it sure seemed to have scared the spiders away!

I agree with post below, this is what I was told by an exterminator. Wish I knew how to get rid of them too, we have some big ones that creep around every now and again.
