My 15 month old had been sleeping very well through the night for months until recently. I was able to lay him down with a bottle or very tired and he would fall asleep quickly and sleep all night. The last 4 days he has been screaming when we put him in bed and waking up every hour to hour and a half, sometimes crying for only a few minute and sometimes crying for half and hour. He shares a room with our 3 year old son whose sleep is being terribly interuppted.

Any ideas about causes or remedies would be appreciates. I have thought of molars coming in, they may be.

What can I do next?

I had that same problem, took my daughter to 5 different doctors only to hear she is healthy. Then I asked my cousin what she thought and she said she is teething. So, my suggestion is get some stuff for his teething and see if he comes down afterwards.

Hey Mama,

It could be his molars or maybe an ear infection. I know during this time of year and the weather we are currently having many little ones are having a difficult sleep schedule due to illness. All I can recommmend is just be patient and if it continues just take him to the doctors for a checkup.

Hang in there!

Ear infection is the first thing that pops in my mind. Babies tend to cry at the pressure of laying down when they have them. Laying a baby down with a bottle can lead to ear infections, their heads should be elevated to prevent the milk from building up on the eustation tubes.

Hey M.! My 16 month old is doing the same thing, it's driving us all nuts. I really do think it is molars- that's what everyone tells me, and I noticed my daughter holding the side of her face or chewing her fingers a lot lately. Molars create a dull, aching pain that is hard to ignore- I have found that infant motrin (NOT tylenol) makes a big difference. My daughter also seems to have discovered that it's WAY more fun to play than to sleep, so rather than ty and sleep through the teething, she's just refusing. it's hard, but give the motrin a try and maybe put something in the crib that he can chew on if he needs it.

Since you didn't say if he was pulling on his ears, I don't think it is an ear infection. His age to me, sounds like he is getting his 2 year molars sooner than 2 years old. Try putting your finger in his mouth and see if you can feel or see teeth coming in the back. My experience is he is teething.

Hope you can figure this out. Sleep is very important.

I agree with Jennifer. My first thought when reading your request is an ear infection. I would talk to your Ped.

oh your household must be frusterated right along with your dear 15 month old. If your child is fussy during the day or tugging on ears or clingy I would also agree with sickness of some kind. It may be a phase that should be short lived. If it is ear inf, 80% go away alone within 3 days but the rest need checked by a pediatrician. If the child has a fever of 102 they need to be seen. Blessings to you and your family.

My first suggestion is to move the older child out while you have trouble. (it's best to keep the baby in the room since moving him out temp. won't help you fix the prob. You need to hold tight to your set thing. I would stop giving the bottle at night. That could very well be the prob. He's not interested in the bottle anymore there for dropping it all. But hold fast to what you plan on doing. Don't accept any less. If he yells he will stop in a while. What else is he going to do...
