Nursing Shirts? - Columbus,OH

I am due in a couple months or so with my second. I nursed exclusively with my first but never invested in special nursing clothing (other than bras.) I'm anticipating that with a two year old in the picture-I'll more likely be in more public situations while having to nurse. Can anyone recommend a budget conscious way to invest in nursing shirts or whether they are worth the investment? (I have a nursing shawl/wrap) I've also seen a product called the "belly sock" which is worn under any normal shirt-but provides stomach coverage. Anyone tried it and can you find it in stores vs. online?

What can I do next?

I've nursed two kids 21 months apart, now 3.5 and 22 months. I own one nursing shirt that I found at a second hand store, but I didn't end up using it very much. Though I didn't do any tandem nursing in public, I never had a problem with just lifting my regular shirt. I did use a sling to hold the infant when I could. Sometimes I would cover the baby's head, but that was rare. I didn't feel like I was having to show much boob to get the baby latched. I still nurse in public and don't give it a second thought.

Good luck.

I found these spaghetti strapped (well - thick spaghetti strap - more like bra straps) cotton tees at Target. They look pretty much like the camis with built in bras you would get for non nursing (except the little snaps). They basically have a big flap that folds down. I layered one of these under another shirt. So the target nursing cami was the bottom layer and then I'd just lift the top shirt up. Then you get full belly coverage and you can use the top shirt to hide the top of your breast. That way, if you are more modest - you aren't very exposed. The tees are in the same spot as the bras. They come in black, white and grey. Good luck!

For my first, I got an entire nursing wardrobe thanks to gift certificates & presents from others...but, for my second - I won't need as much. What I figured out pretty quickly is that if you just invest in the nursing tank tops - you can wear them under anything - making every one of your shirts a nursing shirt. Depending on how often you do laundry - you could probably get away with owning four or so. They run specials often & also offer discounts if you purchase multiples of the same piece. Good luck!

try Glamourmom.com The site sells nursing tanks which are great. My favorite is the 'nursing bra top'. I ordered two and wear them EVERYDAY! They are a little pricey but absolutley worth the cost if your going to be nursing.
