I noticed a few years ago that my son was tanning odd on his stomach. Some areas tanned and some did not. I just figured it was the way I put on his sunblock. But last year the same thing happened in the same spots. Has anyone else ever seen or had this happen to them? Will this always happen when he tans during the summer? It's almost like the pigmentation is gone in some areas of his stomach. It's very noticeable and I worry about what it will look like as he gets older. I wonder if it will get worse? Thanks!

What can I do next?

My nephew has this on his face around his eye and on his cheek. I cant remember what it is called but his pediatrician gave them a cream to put on it daily that will help pigmentation restore quicker. It seems to work well he used to have it around both eyes one worse than the other but now it is only noticable on one side and that one looks much better. I would ask his doctor about it.

My daughter has this on the upper part of her back and down her left arm. The dr. told me it is nothing to worry about and I can't remember what he called it. I did notice this last summer that the parts that weren't tanning where a little darker, so maybe it will go away with age.

My 5 year old has the same thing on her back. It is a 3 X 3 in. spot that never tans. Her pedi said that her skin is just missing pigment in that spot. I first noticed it when she was 10 mo. old. It has gotten bigger as she has grown, but it isn't spreading or anything. It's just another thing that makes them unique. My daughter thinks that it (and all of her birthmarks) are spots were God kissed her.
