I haven't done p90x but I do similar circuit training. Anything like p90x, insanity, and the like will give you the same results.

If you don't NEED to watch the video and can do the workout on your own with written instructions, you can save your self a lot of money by downloading the Tough Mudder boot camp program which is circuit training just like p90x. You just have to read the workout rubric and do it on your own but its FREE!

If you want it, just PM me and I can get you the link to download the pdf.

I own the DVD set and have done several of the workouts multiple times. I didn't intend to follow the specified plan, so didn't buy the book. I also go to black belt level karate classes and run. These are good, hard, workouts. This program is meant for people who are already active and used to working out.

I don't like how hard they push the supplements and such. It's definitely a money-making enterprise. Also, their before-after photos show people who look totally out of shape, but they warn you not to do this if you aren't used to working out...

But, if you are in relatively good shape and want a hard workout program, this is a good one.

My husband and I used P90X, and it is definitely a good workout, but the problem is it takes too long. There aren't many days that I have an extra hour and a half to throw in a workout, even if I can do it at home. There are so many others that can be done in a shorter amount of time per day that this just wasn't logical for our family. Oh, and if you decide to try it, pick it up on eBay, and you will save yourself a bundle. Good luck!

It's AMAZING!!! DO IT!!! You HAVE to stick to the schedule, though. Don't deviate. Take only the day off that you are supposed to. I did it SOME about 2 years ago and even with my lack of consistency (tried to do it during my daughter's nap and it didn't always pan out) I still lost some weight. It's awesome. :)

I've done it, DH has done it, and several friends have done it.
100% works.
But it's intense. So I would only suggest diving into if a) you're also committed to the diet portion of it and b) you're already a fit person.

I have done the P90X and loved it. It is an intense video and you need to be in somewhat decent shape before starting it. It focuses on strength training (a lot of pull-ups, push-ups, bands, etc). It works. But it does require you to have weights, bands and/or pull-up bar, etc.

If you are looking for more cardio and to not have to worry about purchasing any type of equipment you should try Insanity. It is intense too, but focuses more on cardio vs. strengthening. You will do some push-ups and abs, but not quite like p90x.

I've done both and right now my husband and I are doing a hybrid of the two ;) we wanted more cardio than p90x offered but love the strengthening of p90x so we are combining the two and it's turning out to be a fabulous work out for both of us.

My Husband has it and had done it for 3 months.
It does work. But you have to be very diligent with it and actually do it.
It is strenuous. Very strenuous.
Many of his co-workers also have done it with great results. These are guys, not women. But it is for women too.
I tried it too. Its a good workout.

But like anything, you have to keep it up. Or you will go back to the condition you were prior, to doing it. Like any type or workout or fitness routine, you need to keep it up and do maintenance. To keep the results.

Then, my Husband got an injury from it... and for several weeks could not work out. His back got tweaked while doing one of the Yoga sequences.
