I'm help planning a wedding for a very close friend. I have looked in all the wedding books and on the internet, but I was wondering if I could get suggestions or comments on places that maybe someone has used or got married at. She wants it to be simple, but elegant and she would like the ceremony & reception at the same place. She wants a sit down dinner w/ open bar( if not that expensive). She is on a budget. If you know of a place in Orlando or surrounding areas the suggestions would be nice.

Thanks,
C.

Hi C.,

My husband and I were married at The Double Tree off Kirkman Road (twin towers). It was a place I didn't think I would want, but the price was right... and when I actually saw it I fell in love. There is also a place in Winter Park I believe it is called Womens Center, it was nice too, but a little small for my family.

Good Luck

Hey C., I rented a Kiwinis Club in Southeast Orlando for my wedding. It had a stage, white tables/chairs were included. It also had a full kitchen. Plenty of room. We had the ceremony and reception in the same space and it worked out wonderfully. Very cheap too. Each location is different, so look at different halls. Good luck and Congrats to your friend!

My husband and I got married at Mead Gardens in Winter Park. There is a wonderful outdoor area with seating for the ceremony and a large hall for the reception. You would have to bring in your own caterers, but there is a kitchen. It was a wonderful place for our wedding. There is a nice outdoor area that we used for the cocktail hour and it was nice to allow people to walk around the gardens while they were waiting for the reception to begin.

My husband & I got married 10 years ago - but we held our reception at Timacuan Country Club in Lake Mary. (We did not have our ceremony there, but they have a lovely "deck" outside on the golf course where they perform ceremonies) It was WONDERFUL. We had a sit down dinner as well as open bar. It was fantastic & had so many of our guests tell us how much they loved the location! Hope that helps!

9 years ago my husband and I got married outside in a gazebo off Lake Apopka in Winter Garden. Right next to the gazebo is a reception hall. They are both part of the city of Winter Garden. It was inexpensive at the time. The only requirement they had is if you have alcohol you must hire a Winter Garden cop to monitor the event.

Good Luck!!!

I recently got married in Winter Park, FL. The ceremony and reception were at two different places, but it worked for us. The WInter Parki civic center will accomodate both a ceremony and reception and it is beautiful. They allow you to use any caterer you want and bring in your own liquor. I will give you the number to my caterer Michael O'Brien ###-###-####. He is amazing, inexpensive, and VERY cordial. I 100% reccomend him. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. I want to plan weddings for a living, so I would be happy to answer any questions you have. Tell Michael that Kim and Steve referred you! Have a great day!
