An excellent place to look for good wedding vendors is the Collin County Event Professionals website which is

They all are local people and have a variety of services available. Good luck!
Hey mamas,
I am just now about to start seriuosly planning my wedding which is March 21, 2009. Is it possibly to find a cheap wedding coordinator/planner? Any suggestions for a reasonable reception location that comes with the works. Cakes? Where can I go for a cake tasting? Is it better to have fondant or butter cream, which taste better?

I am in the baking feild. I personally like the taste of buttercream over fondant. Delicious cakes does tastings. I was also going to recommend theknot.com My friend used that website and found EVERYTHING she needed. It is also cheaper for coordinator then a planner. They simply come to rehearsal and the wedding and take care of the details. You plan everything and personalize it for your self before hand. They tend to be much cheaper.
Hi H.,
I decorate cakes and from my experience, I love the taste of buttercream icing. Just make sure you try tasting Fondant before you get your entire cake covered. I don't like the flavor or texture.
Have you decided on a budget yet? Once you've decided your budget, I think you can really decide the venue for your wedding and what all it entails.
I did my sister's wedding a few years ago and it was inexpensive, but it was still elegant. We did a lot of bargain shopping.
Let me know if I can help.
Congratulations!
I would love to help you with the printed items for your wedding such as the invitations, napkins, matchbooks, pens, shirts, etc.

I've been baking an decorating cakes for years and can tell you that buttercream absolutely tastes better than fondant. People tend to go for fondant because of the look. What good is a "pretty" cake that no one wants to eat? Besides that, I've never seen anything done in fondant that could not also be done in buttercream and/or royal icing. Do yourself and your guests a favor and go with the buttercream. If you must have fondant, try to find someone that will flavor it for you. That will help. Good luck!
I don't know where you are, but we had our wedding and our reception at the venetian terrace in Las Colinas. Unlike other places, you get the place for the entire day. So you don't have to rush everything into 2 or 3 hours.
If you would like to see photos, give me a shout. We also took a gondola on the canal back to our hotel. I still have my contact sheet for everything I used: violins, flowers, hair and make-up, dj, and photographer.
GL!
Sorry, I got married in NY so I don't have any suggestions other than the cake. We had a fondant cake and, not only was it totaly gorgeous, but it was the most delicious cake I have ever eaten. All the guests loved it! Congrats to you!
Have you checked out theknot.com?
For cakes try Dallas Affairs Cake Co. They are on Abrams in the Lakewood area. They make beautiful cakes and they are really good.
