My husband and I would like to get our kids a new playstructure. We have a smaller plastic one and it seems that our boys, 6 and 4, are growing out of it. We went to a Rainbow dealer last night and the cheapest one they had was $2800!!! Too much for us to afford, especially since my husband works a lot of hours and is not handy and would prefer to pay for assembly on top of that. Anybody have a playstructure that they love? Or any ideas that might help?
Hi N.,
We just bought the last one of Costco's last weekend. It was the last one in Metro Detroit, so I don't know if you'll find another through Costco. We did a lot of research, too, and decided this was the best deal. If you shop on Craig's list, be wary of scams because they DO exist on there.

Sorry if this is a repeat, I didn't read the other responses. Sams club has a real nice RAINBOW one right now for only around $1200 ! Has a tire swing under and everything.. its on display there (well at the one by me, Southgate, anyway).. I have the one from Costco, made by Sunray (owned by Rainbow). We bought it in 2008 for $1400, before Sam's had this new Rainbow one for even cheaper. Had I waited until this year, we would have bought the Sams Club one instead!

THey are super expensive. Look on craigslist, ebay, or garage sales and especially moving sales. That is what I did. It may be a little faded, but the kids don't care :)Good luck!

We got ours at Lowes. I looked at some from Sam`s club, walmart, etc. but they seemed to look like they weren`t going to hold up for very long! If you go to Lowes or Home Depot, you can pick the kits out and the Lumber!Ours is 7 yrs. old and is still as sturdy as ever! They MAY put it together for you too! I hired a friend to do ours.
Good luck!

watch the local papers, there are sometimes used ones there that the previous owners children have out grown due to age. We just sold our Rainbow set to a neighbor for about 14 of the original cost since my son is now 18 yrs. old and we didn't have a need for it anylonger.
Good luck

My husband and I actually found our play structure on Craigslist. It's used, but it's in great shape. We just brought it home and repainted it. It was a great deal! N.

We have the one (or similar) from Toys R Us mentioned below and got it for $800-900. We assembled it ourselves but our kids love it...and we have three boys so it gets a lot of use.

We just started a similar search and found these 2 models at Walmart. We have not purchased one yet, but both look great and have REALLY good reviews on their web site. The smaller model has to be shipped, and is $150 in shipping charges. The other one can be found at some local Walmart Stores, and is only $600. I'm not usually a Walmart shopper, but these looked like a great bargin to me.
Hi N.,
My husband and I went through the same thing. We looked and looked and all those play structures were soo expensive. I ended up going to toys r us one day just thinking maybe just maybe they'll have something I can buy right then and bring home and put together. Well, I found a really cute playscape with a big twirly slide and little clubhouse on top with a flower box for $900. I believe I had to open up a charge with them to get the 10% off, but it was well worth it. The putting together part was a pain in the butt, but after about 3 hot, sweaty days (lol) we had it up. It was well worth it to save all that money. The kids LOVE it and its sooo nice. It has a little snack bar under the clubhouse with a sandbox. It also has a really nice roof that we put together piece by piece. You'll have to have patience with your husband while doing the assembly, but again it was well worth it!!! :)

Costco sells one for about $1900. They are not hard to put together, so perhaps you could have a barbecue with friends when your hubby is to be home and all could help.

Hi Nikki,
We have the rainbow one which is great but I know that the one Costco sells for $1500 is a rainbow just on a smaller scale. They are well worth the money. I don't know what kind of warranty comes with the one at Costco though. Good Luck its worth looking into and researching all kinds to find the right one to fit your family.

I looked on craigslist for a while and was dissappointed because they all needed work and were still expensive. We went to the Rainbow dealer also and were surprised how expensive they were. I asked the guy at Rainbow how come Costco, Sam's Club and Wal-Mart sell Rainbow brand at a much cheaper price. He said because they buy bulk directly from Rainbow and they can lower the price. We just bought the Rainbow set from Wal-Mart for $800. You should check into it. Good Luck

We bought ours at Sam's Club a couple years ago and are very happy with it. We did assemble it ourselves and it took the better part of two weekends, but it was worth it to save the money. Good luck!

We just purchased the one Julie G gave you a link to from Walmart (the first one Meridian) and we are sooo happy with it. It is perfect for my 2 and 3 year olds. The glider is great for kids that are still learning to swing. There is a picnic table, club house, slide, 2 other swings, monkey bars, the whole works. It really has every item that is needed and looks nice too. It did take my husband a couple hours to label all the pieces (that is key to a smooth build and to verify you have all the parts) and then about 2 days to put it all together with a little help - lots of pieces!. Someone actually just hired my husband to put together a Rainbow set for them too. So, if you need someone to put it together, I can check with him. Good luck finding one. Having one has been a life saver. My kids love it!

We bought the Rainbow wooden structure from Costco this year and I would def recommend it! It is $1299.00. I think you can view it online..although it says it's $1799.oo online cuz it's adding shipping. Sam's club also has a nice one fron Rainbow for the same price. Good Luck! I did alot of research and found these 2 to be the best deals.

We just got a used one on Craigslist for $350. We did disassemble and assemble ourselves (took 2 weekends) but there is a person who advertises on craigslist also who will do it for you and seems pretty reasonable (I think around $500). I did look on Craigslist for about 2 months before finding the one we got and we are very, very happy with it. If you are interested, contact me and I will email you a pic.

Craig's List --- sometimes people list them for a lot less once their kids have outgrown them. You can move it and reassemble it in much larger pieces than the initial install, so it is not as difficult (even a non-handyman can do it!). Good luck!

With so many people out of work right now, I'd think you could pay someone in your community to build you one either from a kit (Home Depot etc.) or from scratch. I'd check in your little n'hood newspaper or at a smaller n'hood hardware store for names of guys who do this stuff. Often retired cops and firefighters do handyman work. My son-in-law built a great, wood playscape for his kids from a kit that he adapted to their needs.

go to costco or sams they have play structures there for about a thousand. they are like rainbows but the only diffrence is you and your husband can't swing on them like the rainbow one. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure there not as thick wood like structures. Check them out.
