Pork Chops - Cherryville,MO

I am doing pork chops for dinner tonight. I usually do them the same way - on the skillet in some olive or coconut oil, seasoned with garlic salt, pepper, ground parsley and some dried thyme. They are super yummy! And I will sautee a side of green peppers and onions, still a little crisp. But I want to try something different. Any suggestions? These are thin cut chops, bone in I believe....I am not at home to check.

What can I do next?

In addition to a little salt and pepper, try garlic, lemon and dill. Garlic, lemon and oregano will give them a Greek flavor. Chipotle pepper (or something else with some heat) mixed with apricot preserves is also delicious with pork. Good luck!

I do them in the skillet, too, in olive oil. I usually sprinkle them with Montreal Steak seasoning. After I take them out, I deglaze the pan with about a 1/2 cup of white wine, scraping up the bits on the bottom. Then add some butter and the same amt of flour, about 3 Tablespoons, mix till brownish, the put in some chicken stock or broth for a gravy. Yum!

We like to bake ours with some bread crumbs, a crumbled boullion (sp?) cube if you have plain bread crumbs and maybe a little s&p. We are not big on oil (no judgement, just stating) so the baking is a yummy alternative for us.

Your recipe sounds awfully tempting for a shake up at my house though, so thanks!

I'm going straight up heart-attack casserole tonight. I layer: Rice on the bottom, green beans on top, place country style boneless pork ribs on that (they're great....like a thick, tender pork steak), and then pour milk/cream of mushroom soup mix over all, and top with French's fried onions.

Bake at 275'F for 2 hours.

So awesome. It's the pork chop and rice bake plus the green bean casserole in one pan.

ETA: It was delicious. I've named it "The Queen's Casserole."

I love to try new things...I've done my pork chops with Heinz 57 sauce and honey (like the ham!!) and pineapple juice - served with rice.

I've done olive oil with roasted garlic as well...

the simplest way I've EVER done it? couple table spoons of water, couple tablespoons olive oil and Lawry's seasoning salt - pan fry. Serve with buttered noodles or rice and a green veggie!!

ENJOY!!!

I sometimes spread a little mustard and apricot jam on them. I know it sounds weird but it's really good! You could use any flavor jam I suppose, fruit and pork go well together, but I like the apricot. I also add some salt and pepper.

Greek style would definitely be with oregano. I make my lamb chops with only salt, pepper, and oregano, broil them for like 10 mins on both sides and done! It would work with a pork chop too but you might have to cook it longer since they are probably bigger...except I just saw that you said they were thin cut, so maybe less than 10 mins/side.

My husband and son really love them when I marinate them and bake them in the oven, this is the recipe I follow: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/marinated-baked-pork-chops/

The marinade mixture helps keep them from drying out, and even though when I first looked at the recipe I was doubtful, my family really likes it!

ETA: This recipe is similar, but with mine, I pan-fry them...... just use a bit of olive oil, and turn carefully to minimize losing the yummy pecan crust!

I always have marinade in the fridge (or at least some itallian dressing). I marinate them for an hour or more and then broil them in the oven about 4 inches from the heat for about 7-8 minutes per side. It's great for being easy and quick and the chops are tender and not overly dry.

I really like this one, too.
