Ok mommies... this has to be short n sweet - little one is waking up. I am at my wits end and don't know what to do. I can't figure out why I am sweating soooo much. My hands, feet, and crotch/butt area are sweating so much, I am to the point where I am changing undies and socks 5 or more times a day. My hands sweat so much that I haven't been holding my 3 month old as much as I would like, and my son doesn't want me anywhere near him with my "sweaty hands". When I do hold her, I use a thick towel to keep her from getting soaked with my sweat. And it doesn't matter if I wash my hands or take a cool shower. Please, any advice you have would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

I went through the same thing post partum-however it was in the first 3 weeks after I had my kids. It's the body's way of getting rid of all the extra fluid it accumulates during pregnancy. Maybe that's what happening to you? Phases of hypoglycemia can also cause one to sweat.

Post partum perspiration is a new term heh heh, but yes, your hormones are out of whack for a while after delivering. Even if this didn't happen after your other pregnancy/ies it can happen after your latest one.

Since it sounds extreme in your case because it's affecting your daily life, I do think that you need to talk to talk to your doctor. The specialist that would be best informed and able to help you is a Dermatologist. There ARE treatments for Hyperhidrosis.

I did the same thing. Just hormones out of whack. Takes a while to get back to normal, especially if you're nursing.

Crazy postpartum hormones. It's common. It was mostly at night for me - I would soak the sheets and it was felt so gross.

Added - I nursed my kids for 12+ months, and I went through periods of time like this until they weaned. I don't know if it takes this long for your hormones to settle if you are not nursing though. That said, it's worth a call to your doctor.

After 3 months is do the doctor check.

It's probably just Wheeeee! Hormones :P BUT there may be something you can do to mitigate them

Know, for most women, to a DEGREE this becomes sorta normal. Hence "feminine deodorant spray", using deodorant under breatd & groun and pits instead of just pits, switching to clinical strength deodorant (like Mitchem, or an Rx, or the crystal ... Which is PURE active ingredient ... Rofl... It always cracks me up when people recommend the crystal as a 'natural' option. Regular deodorants contain 12-22% of the salts that the crystal has 100% of. Shhhhhh.)

In general, moms sweat more, from more places, and have stronger body odor than women who haven't given birth.

The degree you're talking about, though, makes me think your hormones are off kilter enough to rate nudging them (bc pills, thyroid meds, adrenals, SOMETHING sounds off).

I'm not an endocrinologist, though, nor OB... So I only know it sounds like one of your hormonal systems is hiccuping.

Postpartum hormones maybe, but at 3 months, the majority of the pregnancy hormones should have left your body. I will suggest getting your thyroid checked as well as your blood sugars. Better to rule those out than just assume. Sweating to that degree isn't normal.

I would have to guess possible peri-menapause. Peri-menapause is all the symptoms you have, which can last for many years to one degree to another, until actual menapause when your period has stopped (12+ mos) and your body has fully shifted. You can start in your 30s, altough not the norm. I would suggest going to the doctor and have blood tests done to see what's going on with your hormones since your last birth. It may be from the pregnancy or it may be peri-menapause. Do not be afraid of the phrase "peri-menapause"! There's plenty of women who are in it in a mild way and have no clue. Your doctor can give you medications like simple BC pills, a vitamin cocktail (like me), or natural ways to help balance your hormones. Your hormones are either out of whack due to the last pregnancy or due to peri-menapause. This is fixable so don't stress it. In the meantime try some over the counter things like Black Cohosh for the sweating (I use) or other vitamin type things on the market. A little research online and you should find a few things to help until you get to the doctors, get blood results and the doc puts you on a new regiment.

Welcome to the age 40 group! It's scary at first but once you accept your new age group and the changes that happen life is good!

if you are nursing this can happen. What do they always recommend while nursing drink more water, that and the fact that your hormones have not regulated, and the fact that you may still be ridding your body of pregnancy fluids. If these are not things that you feel you are experiencing then see the doctor. I would have terrible night sweats after I delivered my last baby and would have to get up and change my clothes in the middle of the night and sleep on a towel it was so bad and such an hassle
