I know you're suppose to lose some of your hair after you have your baby, but how long does this go on for? I'm a little over three months post partum, and still losing my hair. I take Biotin 5000mcg once daily, and I'm using Biologe Shampoo and Conditioner to strengthen my hair. But it's still coming out A LOT on my brush, and in the shower each time and during the day I find some hair on my clothes, and falling onto my arm etc. Just like a few strands here and there, but daggum...I'm fixin to put a wig or net on my head just to keep myself from losing my hair. I feel like I'm going to go bald here. LOL

Anyone with the same problem or know how long this is suppose to go on?

I had the same problem with all four of my children. It seemed to last a few months to a couple of years. I also breastfed them for two years so I didn't know if that had anything to do with it or not. But I know that it cleared up eventually... good luck!

Hey G.,

Could it be thyroid problems?

With my first son, my hair started falling out once I stopped breastfeeding at 5 months, and progressively got worse, it was very scary. So at my annual gynae appt I mentioned this to my doctor and he checked my thyroid gland in my throat and said it felt enlarged, and did some blood tests on me. I had also gained a lot of weight in a short period of time too, so the hair loss plus weight gain set off an alarm bell with my doctor and I'm so glad it did. My test results came back WAY high for TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), which meant I was severely hypothyroid. Apparently pregnancy can cause temporary, or sometimes permanent thyroid problems in some women, either way you do need to get it treated asap. I just so happened to get the permanent version, but am feeling much better since taking the thyroid medication. Just food for thought?

Since having my second son, he's now 4 months old, I'm losing my hair again since stopping bf'ing, but not nearly as much as before. So hopefully it shouldn't last too much longer. They say any hair loss after 6 months post partum should be checked out.

Hope this helps?

Hello!
I had that also pretty bad after the second. It seemed to last "forever". I do not really know exactly when it stopped, but she is now almost one year and it has been over for a while. So, maybe this lasted until she was about 6 or 7 months.
Not sure if you are joking, but if it just seems a lot to you and no one else can tell, it is probably fine. Else, i.e. it is getting noticably thin, I would call the Dr office. Since this is all hormonal, I am sure they would have something that can help.
