Once you've signed the power of attorney in front of a notary send it to your son.
I need my adult son to sign a document for me while I am out of the country. Can he forge my signature if I give him permission? I have no Power of Attorney in place.

That's like screaming BOMB, while running thru an airport.
POA's are free, just download it (specific to your state) and sign it in front of a Notary. Why break the law and potentially get yourself and your son in trouble?
Sounds like you got it solved but lol at the dumbest comment. :) You're right, no need to hyphenate.
What you can do it stand at the fax machine of an attorney in your area or a notary and wait for the document to come. Then you sign it with the notary's seal and information, she sends it back over the line to a person that is an attorney where your son is. This keeps the identity's secure and makes sure the right person is doing the signing. It should be acceptable for any parties but there are usually protocols for this type of thing.
